As one of the largest academic departments of the School of Medicine at UC Irvine, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is separated into specific clinical divisions including the major areas of Family Planning, General Obstetrics and Gynecology, Gynecologic Oncology, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Obstetric-Gynecologic Hospitalists, and Urogynecology to provide a full range of clinical services including well-woman care, family planning, routine and high-risk pregnancy management, laparoscopic and robotic surgery, pelvic floor medicine, and complex treatment of gynecologic cancer. In addition, the department offers a wide array of continuing medical education programs addressing obstetric and gynecologic topics, as well as generates cutting edge, innovative research.
Your Role on the Team
Under the general supervision of the Human Resources/Academic Affairs Manager and the Chief Administrative Officer, administers academic personnel programs for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Coordinates, reviews, and advises on senate and non-senate academic personnel. Provides on-going analysis on academic personnel matters, including recruitments, appointments, salary administration, and reviews for merits, promotions, reappointments, etc. Maintains Faculty Development System (FDS) for all departmental faculty and assists with annual reports. Provides analytical support for office wide projects as assigned.
Responsibilities of this position encompass a wide range of duties that are especially time sensitive. This position requires sound communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical and decision-making skills which are often within a team environment.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required:
Basic knowledge of and ability to apply / interpret organization and college policies and procedures which govern academic HR.
Knowledge of organization, college and departmental formal and informal policies and procedures and understanding of variances to stated policies
Knowledge of human resources management systems and other related business software programs and systems.
Knowledge of unit academic culture and educational goals of discipline(s) served.
Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations to Chairs / unit management.
Demonstrated organization, problem solving, and communication skills.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
