The HR Generalist provides administrative support to the Ross Human Resources Department and recruitment services to the school. You will play an important role in recruiting and onboarding processes, ensuring compliance with standard hiring practices. You will partner with hiring teams to improve job descriptions in preparation for posting, manage applicant tracking and hiring workflows, and coordinate posting of job openings with the Shared Services Center (SSC). You will maintain HRIS records and reporting, compliance management, and other complex administrative responsibilities. You will ensure prompt and professional responses to employee and job applicant inquiries. You will report to the Assistant HR Director, Staff Operations.
This hybrid position is based in Ann Arbor, MI, and will report on-site three days per week. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain that authorization throughout employment.
Coordinate recruitment processes, including job postings, applicant tracking, and candidate communications.
Partner with the Shared Services Center (SSC) to post roles and ensure accurate, complete hiring documentation.
Review and refine job postings to enhance clarity and inclusivity.
Support candidate screening and guide hiring managers on policies and timelines.
Be a liaison among hiring managers, HR, SSC, and candidates throughout the hiring process.
Onboarding, Offboarding & Employment Support
Manage onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring accurate system updates.
Support hiring and onboarding for temporary staff and GEO-related processes.
Maintain HR metrics and support data analysis for salary recommendations and posting ranges.
Coordinate onboarding programs and employee engagement efforts.
HRIS, Compliance and Transactions
Maintain accurate employee records and support compliance with required policies and training.
Process HR transactions (e.g., appointments, pay changes) in partnership with the SSC.
Provide guidance on payroll, timekeeping, and HR systems.
Support compliance functions, including I-9 administration and reporting activities.
HR Operations and Employee Support
Manage the HR inbox, providing guidance to faculty, staff, and managers.
Maintain HR website content and internal documentation.
Manage feedback surveys, process improvements, and employee experience programs.
Contribute to programs that promote employee well-being and engagement.
Programs and Events
Support administration of annual HR programs (e.g., Flexible Summer Appointment Program).
Coordinate logistics for HR events, workshops, and vendor-supported programs.
At least 3 years of experience in human resources, recruitment, or administrative operations.
Experience supporting recruitment processes, including job postings, applicant tracking, and candidate coordination.
Experience working with HR information systems (e.g., PeopleSoft), including data entry and report generation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, including working with formulas, pivot tables, and basic data analysis.
Experience using survey or data collection tools (e.g., Qualtrics) to support reporting and feedback analysis.
The salary offer range for this position is $53,500 to $66,100. Salary offers are determined based on several factors, including a candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications, along with internal equity considerations. It is not common for new hires to be placed at the top of the range.
Job openings are posted for a minimum of seven calendar days. The review and selection process may begin as early as the eighth day after posting. This opening may be removed from posting boards and filled any time after the minimum posting period has ended.
