The Human Resources Department of the Stanford Graduate School of Business seeks an Associate Director to fulfill the full scope of HR Partner services to assigned senior staff leaders and client groups. In this role reporting to the Director, Human Resources, you will have the opportunity to intimately learn, and engage with, the operations behind a world class academic institution, providing your HR intelligence to influence and evolve workplace culture. Our staff supports an amazing cadre of faculty and graduate students, delivering a wide array of academic and non-academic services that require nimble and efficient human resource support.
We are looking for an organized, dedicated, and collaborative individual who excels managing staff-related issues, policies, programs, and processes. You will generally act independently in service of assigned groups, with a high level of collaboration on key initiatives with HR colleagues and respective managers. We are open to a flexible work arrangement (a combination of onsite and remote work, #LI-Hybrid). Your primary responsibilities include: -
Provide people leadership to assigned client groups in partnership and coordination with senior leaders.

In partnership with the Director, Human Resources, deploy and/or design strategies for facilitating organizational and behavioral change, including diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Continuously benchmark practices across Stanford University and beyond to deliver best-in-class services.

Coach and advise both management and staff on all aspects of the employment lifecycle: acquisition of diverse talent, engagement and retention, performance and development, change management, and issue resolution.

In coordination with HR Administrators, facilitate timely HR transactions and approvals, ensuring employees and managers are effectively complying with University policies.

Assess organizational and individual staff development needs. Occasionally develop and/or deliver relevant training.

Utilize available data and reporting to provide actionable analytics to inform HR strategy.

Exhibit flexibility in responding to new or transitional demands.
To be successful in this position, you will bring: -
Bachelor's degree and five years relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.

Demonstrated experience providing management support and consultation in a combination of human resources areas including: employee relations, employment and labor law, compensation, staffing and employment, DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion), training and development, performance and management coaching, and organizational development.

Demonstrated interpersonal skills, understanding of group dynamics and successful track record of establishing credibility and trust with a diverse client group.

Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, judgment, negotiating, influencing, and decision-making skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.

Excellent facilitation and oral and written communication skills; ability to prepare clear and concise reports and deliver formal presentations or training to employees and managers.

Demonstrated proficiency with business applications and human resource information systems.
In addition, preferred requirements include: -
Experience as a stand-alone business partner in a rigorous higher education environment or in an intellectually demanding environment.

Specialized experience and expertise in employee relations, talent acquisition, and/or talent management with a lens towards diversity, equity, and inclusion.
