Payroll Partner for Human Resources, Benefits & Payroll - Georgetown University

The Payroll Partner, as a team player within Payroll Services, provides a full range of support to the University community, ensuring timely and accurate payments to all employees. Familiar with all aspects of payroll responsibilities and federal, state and local legislation, they provide accurate information and appropriate advice for prompt payments, key data without error, and interacts with staff throughout the University community to ensure employees are paid timely, to resolve payment issues that may arise, and to communicate as appropriate with various federal, state and local government agencies, attorneys and banks. Reporting to the Payroll Senior Accountant, the Payroll Partner has duties that include but are not limited to:

Payroll Processing

• Review for accuracy and process the documents to ensure timely and accurate payments - for example, time sheet correction, reimbursement forms, state tax changes, cost center adjustment forms, one-time payment forms, garnishments, and various deduction and retroactive payment requests
• Review special checks request and process special checks

Customer Service

• Provide quality customer service to the community - faculty, staff, students, attorneys, banks and various government agencies
• Provide timely response to all phone calls, e-mail and other inquiries (within 24 hours).
• Assist coworkers and internal/external customer research, and resolve problems, making required adjustment in a timely manner.
• Using excellent customer service skills, establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, administrators, and all the members of the general public
• Each partner is responsible for at least two of the following duties - maintaining familiarity with each of the two duties in order to perform or assist the primary partner when required: scan payroll actions for each employee such as; special check request and state tax forms; escheat reporting of payroll and coordinate Accounts Payable reporting for the University; maintain employee records and implements payroll deductions for garnishment, tax levies and child support enforcement order; prepare required end of the month journal vouchers; reconcile and request payments for union dues and initiation fees; key biweekly and monthly expense vouchers; maintain up-to-date files on employees; reconcile and request payments for parking, Yates, and metro check; respond to requests for duplicate W-2's; and/or work on special projects as needed

Respond to Subpoenas

• Initiate contact with departmental personnel who are not completing payroll forms accurately and timely and providing advice as needed
• Complete employment verification and return to specific agencies
• Prepare bank transmittal form and review the bank statement monthly

Qualifications

• High School diploma
• 2 to 4 years of office experience working in a payroll environment
• General knowledge of accounting and tax laws pertaining to payroll

Preferred qualification

Bachelor's degree
