Central Virginia Electric Cooperative is looking for an HR Generalist who will play an integral role in our continued growth and success. The HR Generalist will support payroll and all HR functions for CVEC, and our growing fiber broadband subsidiary, Firefly. The ideal candidate will have experience in payroll, employee relations, benefits and leave administration, managing HRIS systems, recruitment/on-boarding, and HR compliance reporting. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone who is passionate about human resources, and able to work both independently and collaboratively, while also prioritizing a diverse workload.
Essential Job Duties Include:
Assist with Benefits & Leave Administration: Assist the Benefit Administrator with 401k, pension, disability, dental, health, retirement, life, and supplemental benefits programs.
HR Systems and HR/Payroll Data Reporting
Payroll: Works with the Payroll Specialist on all aspects of the payroll process; provides support and generates reports for the additional areas of responsibility covered by payroll. Serves as the back-up for the Payroll Specialist.
Assist with Affirmative Action/EEO/VETS Program Compliance:
Assists with Performance Management and Compensation Programs Administration
Assist in Recruitment Process: On-Boarding and New Hire Processing
Assist with DOT/CDL and Drug Free Workforce Program Administration:
Employee Relations/HR Policy Compliance Support: Provides professional HR support. Notifies VP, HR of HR issues, violations of Federal, State Laws and Workplace Policies. Assists in providing HR training.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
3- 5 years previous experience working in Human Resources or related field.
HR generalist skills in benefit administration, payroll, recruitment, and employee relations.
HR regulatory compliance and employment law knowledge necessary.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and conduct duties in a professional manner.
Good Decision Making & Judgment Skills; Solution Focused.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, HRIS/ATS and Payroll systems; Access skills a plus.
Excellent organizational/project management skills; manage multiple priorities with frequent interruptions.
Diligent attention to detail
Displays on-going commitment to learning; stays current on HR related laws, regulations, and best practices.
Ability to create and interpret regulations, legal documents, plan documents, etc.
Salary Range: $68,000-$82,000 /Annually depending on experience
