Reporting to the Assistant Director of Human Resources at Rutgers University-Camden, the HR Consultant will provide consultative client services to a select group of Rutgers University-Camden academic and/or administrative departments. The HR Consultant will act as a strategic partner to the assigned units, providing advice and guidance on policy interpretation in accordance with applicable university, state, and federal regulations, processes, policies, procedures and collective bargaining agreements.
The HR Consultant will identify innovative and effective approaches to assist departments in establishing and meeting their goals, in relation to their mission and values. Through a strategic partnership with the incumbent's assigned departments, the HR Consultant will make recommendations to the departmental leaders on the operation of said departments primarily in the areas of organizational structure, talent acquisition and management, training and employee development, change management, employee and labor relations and other functional areas of human resources. The HR Consultant will work regularly with the departments to identify and implement programs and procedures, in relation to the human resources function, that advance the goals of academic and administrative departments, as well as contribute to the advancement of the Rutgers University-Camden campus as a whole. The HR Consultant will work in close collaboration with subject-matter experts within the core HR functional areas to implement programs and procedures to advance the goals and objectives of the Camden campus and University Human Resources.
Additionally, the HR Consultant will play a key role in the implementation of university and campus-wide human resource initiatives and will be responsible for the education and implementation of these initiatives in their respective academic/administrative units.
The incumbent in this position will be expected to operate in a highly-sensitive environment and to maintain high levels of customer and client services, with professionalism and confidentiality. Knowledge of best practices in topics of diversity, equity and inclusion are a plus, as the incumbent will be expected to deliver consultation with consideration of these initiatives at all times.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) and a minimum of two additional year of experience in human resource functions to include classification, compensation, recruitment, staffing, performance management, training, and compliance with applicable federal and state employment laws.

Evening and weekend hours may occasionally be required; position also requires occasional travel between the primary location on the Camden Campus to the Rutgers University-New Brunswick/Newark campuses. May occasionally require travel to off-campus locations.
Salary: Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, within university policy and salary schedules, as well as departmental budgets.
