Reporting to the Manager, HR Administration in the College of Arts, Media and Design, the Human Resources Associate serves as lead administrator on several key processes and is responsible for coordinating, preparing, and tracking human resources transactions for employees in the college. The HR Associate will support all employees in the college including staff, full time faculty, part time faculty, temporary and student workers.
The HR Associate will assist with several key HR functions, such as hiring, onboarding, offboarding, payroll, time tracking, visiting scholar appointments, and I-9 compliance. The HR Associate will track faculty information including tenure eligibility, promotion eligibility, sabbatical eligibility, leaves, etc. They will provide support for visa processing and faculty tenure and promotion cases. The HR Associate will assist in generating appointment letters and processing additional payments for faculty and staff.
Other responsibilities include auditing payroll, maintaining the college's personnel files and databases, staying abreast of the latest Human Resources and University policies and procedures, generating and updating reports, and cross-training as back up for the Manager, HR Administration.
The HR Associate provides excellent customer service to CAMD leaders, managers, and staff and proactively resolves problems, serving as the primary liaison between CAMD managers and employees and university Human Resources on issues related to hiring, data accuracy, benefits, payroll, time tracking, etc. In addition, the HR Associate is responsible for creating and updating process documentation, workflows, and guides for HR hiring and onboarding practices.
The HR Associate must have exceptional attention to detail, be well-organized and able to juggle multiple competing priorities, clearly and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required
2-4 years of professional human resources experience required
Demonstrated interest in expanding HR knowledge or related field of study
Sound judgement, excellent interpersonal skills, proven ability to demonstrate initiative and motivation
Well-developed problem-solving skills, along with the ability to effectively anticipate or interpret employee and manager needs
Ability to translate HR policies, system processes, and best practices into everyday language that managers and staff can understand
Demonstrated analytical skills to read, interpret, and communicate data and/or survey results to inform practices, processes, and aid in decision-making
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong proofreading, attention to detail, and follow through skills are essential
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize projects and multiple, competing priorities
Demonstrated accuracy, thoroughness, and quality of work
Must have a strong team-oriented and flexible approach to work
Strong ethical sensibility and ability to manage a high level of sensitive and confidential employee information, maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion at all times
Advanced MS Office proficiency, including SharePoint, spreadsheet, database, presentation, and research skills
