Human Resources is seeking a Generalist/Sr Generalist to join our busy department. This individual will serve as liaison to departments regarding human resource needs in the areas of Employment, Labor Relations, Compensation or Benefits.
After a period of orientation, hybrid work may be available in this position.
Duties/Physical Demands:
This generalist role may serve as liaison to assigned departments for all human resource matters. Analyzing concerns, working collaboratively to resolve issues and/or escalating to other professionals as necessary.
Position will work with developing and maintaining statistical data to track work progress. Interprets contracts, University policy and procedures and civil service language. Reviews and analyzes data ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Trouble shoots departmental or staff issues and recommends appropriate course of action. Develops, owns and works on special projects; serves on committees.
Collaborates regarding compensation needs. Assists/consults with Compensation Director and makes appropriate recommendations.
Work may include consulting regarding departmental/employee issues and recommending solutions/resources. Monitoring compliance, providing recruitment and retention guidance and cultivating organizational and community partnerships. Position may also participate in the interview and hiring process.
May work with our Applicant Tracking (ATS) or Human Resources Information System (HRIS) to input data and review for accuracy. May assist departments in compiling and processing job postings, employee and position transactions, and job offers. This may include proper processing of new hire transactions, on-boarding and the life-cycle of the new employees. May conduct exit interviews, compile statistics and collaborate with departments and make recommendations.
May proof and audit the payroll, monitor data entry compliance, and resolve any discrepancies with compensation plans, union contracts, time and attendance, letters of offer, civil service guidelines, or Miami policies and procedures.
May create and analyze benefit reports, statistical data and other information for the Benefit Director and other management as assigned. Work to coordinate and prepare benefit communications, announcements/emails, booklets, and other media for plans, events and/or changes to employees as needed. May serve as liaison with vendors, including issue resolution, reporting and invoicing and monitor benefit data integrity.

For the Human Resources Generalist: - Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or closely related field, and a minimum of at least one (1) year of Human Resources experience. OR - Five (5) years of Human Resources experience with at least three (3) years at the Generalist level.
For the Sr Human Resources Generalist: - Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or closely related field, and a minimum of three (3) years of Human Resources Generalist experience in more than one (1) Human Resources functionality. OR - Seven (7) years of Human Resources experience with at least three (3) years at the Generalist level with experience in more than one (1) Human Resources functionality.
Desired Qualifications:
Professional licensure such as PHR, SHRM-CP, CEBS or equivalent. Prior Accounting and Payroll Experience, Prior project management experience or Benefits
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills, Advanced level Excel skills. Ability to collaborate and problem solve solutions. Proven analytical skills and attention to detail.
