Position Summary:
The Department of Medicine has 11 divisions and more than 450 employees. Applies professional UC Academic HR concepts, organization and/or systemwide policies and procedures to provide guidance to supervisors and managers to resolve a variety of academic human resources issues of moderate scope and complexity. Under direction of the Academic Personnel/HR Supervisor and general guidance from the Sr Academic Personnel/HR Analyst, the incumbent will perform a wide variety of academic affairs and human resources duties to support the efficient and effective functioning of
3-5 Years of relevant job experience with a BA/BS or equivalent experience. Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PPS, TRS, and Data Warehouse Demonstrated skill to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, to a diverse group of employees (faculty, staff, and students) to disseminate information.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Typing and proofreading skills in order to prepare letters, memos, reports, and forms. Basic knowledge of and ability to apply / interpret organization and college policies and procedures which govern academic HR. Demonstrated organization, problem solving, and communication skills. Ability to pay strict attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to maintain high level of confidentiality concerning personnel/payroll matters. Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations to Chairs / unit management. Knowledge of human resources management systems and other related business software programs and systems. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain files and records. Knowledge of organization, college and departmental formal and informal policies and procedures and understanding of variances to stated policies. Demonstrated skill in organizing and completing work assignments in an environment of frequent interruptions and/or distractions. Ability to follow through and prioritize multiple tasks and assignments in a timely manner when there are pressures of deadlines and competing requirements. Knowledge of unit academic culture and educational goals of discipline(s) served.
Preferred:
Working knowledge of University Payroll policies. Working knowledge of principals and practice of Human Resource and Academic Personnel Policies. Working knowledge of visa requirements and related policy.
