Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director, oversees and manages Human Resources programs including recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, professional development, performance management and employee assessment. Advances the organization's commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) through intentional recruitment efforts and inclusive retention strategies. Collaboratively works to ensure diverse outreach in all aspects of Associated Students (A.S.) including both employment and volunteer opportunities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESPrimary Functions- Manages the organization's recruitment program including recruitment timelines, job postings, applicant screenings, interview process and background checks and/or Live Scan clearance review. Works closely with Payroll Liaisons to support on-campus recruitment initiatives to include tabling events, career fairs, etc. as needed
- Recommends and implements recruiting and hiring strategies to attract employees from diverse backgrounds. Ensures recruitment job announcements are strategically posted in areas within the respective fields and fosters the inclusion of diverse communities
- Ensures all job descriptions are compliant with current labor laws and safety guidelines, and are consistent with inclusive language in accordance with the organization's DEI plan
- Oversees employee onboarding program that outlines the value of the new employee's role to the mission of A.S. to include facility tours, training and continued new hire engagement. Conducts full-time new hire orientation meetings and ensures completion of all full-time new hire documentation. Works closely with Payroll Liaisons to ensure consistent new employee onboarding for all staff
- Coordinates all Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) efforts including participation in A.S. DEI committee meetings, attends campus equity council meetings, coordinates all diversity training for all employees on a semi-annual, annual, and as needed basis in coordination with the A.S. DEI plans. Ensures A.S. DEI plans' goals are met
- Researches, develops, recommends, and executes creative strategies to foster A.S. diversity goals and initiatives
- Reviews current practices and policies, assessing and analyzing to ensure that they consistently support the A.S. DEI plan
- Collects and analyzes statistical data to evaluate A.S.' employee demographics in accordance with diversity standards and goals
- Serves as the A.S. advisor to the Student Diversity Commission (SDC). Supports SDC members in the annual review of the A.S. DEI plan and the A.S. student leader assessment survey
- Manages the professional development program for all staff
- Oversees the planning and execution of employee relations events. Communicates and markets events to staff
- Manages employee performance management program including communication with supervisors regarding evaluation deadlines and ensuring evaluations are completed in a timely manner. Ensures evaluations are consistent and meet A.S. standards
- Creates and maintains confidential employee personnel records including HRIS. Records data and creates reports in HRIS system to support the goals of the HR department
- Serves as the Custodian of Records for Live Scan results. Oversees background check and Live Scan policies and procedures in accordance with Federal and State laws, as well as A.S. policies
- Coordinates full-time employee tuition reimbursement program
- Coordinates student employee scholarships programs and leads selection committees
- Participates in the University New Employee Orientation program as needed
- Conducts exit interviews and separation meetings as needed
Minimum Requirements Minimum & Preferred RequirementsEducation:
- Four-year degree in human resources or a job-related field from an accredited college or university required
- HR Certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM or extended studies) preferred
Experience:
- A minimum of four years progressively managing human resources functions required
- Experience directly supervising staff required
- Experience in Higher Education environment preferred

- Ability to present a consistent, positive approach to staff, students and all internal and external contacts by being courteous, respectful, helpful and cooperative at all times
- Ability to communicate and/or present in small and large settings
- Must have strong English language skills and the ability to read, write and verbally communicate at a level appropriate to the duties of the position
- Ability to operate a computer, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to learn and utilize new software programs
- Ability to gather and organize data, draw logical conclusions and discern implications
- Well organized, ability to effectively multi-task, ability to prioritize work, problem solve, make decisions and meet scheduled deadlines under pressure
- Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
COMPENSATIONStarting range: $85,000 - $100,000 per year
SCHEDULE & WORKING CONDITIONSThis is a regular, full-time position with expected hours of Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

RELATIONSHIPSInside the Organization:
- Reports to the Associate Executive Director
- Works closely and collaborates with Associate Director of Business Operations, Payroll Manager, Payroll Technician and Contracts & Risk Management Coordinator
- Provides direction to Human Resources administrative assistants
- Works closely with Office Supervisors/Payroll Liaisons and departmental hiring supervisors
- Advises Student Diversity Commission leaders and members

EMPLOYMENT CATEGORY: Full-Time, Exempt, Salaried, Grade 16
