Department Human Resources Office
This position has the responsibility to provide diversified support for the Human Resources Department at St. Louis Community College. This position has primary responsibility for the College’s Workers’ Compensation Program, Tuition Waiver Program, Unemployment Claim Processing, Administration of the Human Resources Budget and oversees the day-to-day operations (office management) of the HR department. This position serves as the department liaison to internal and external customers and requires discretion, confidentiality, and independent judgement. This position provides direct support for the Associate Vice Chancellor, HR.
Primary Duties Performed:
Administers and monitors expenditures, manages departmental budgets, administers the procurement card process, and completes administrative detail.
Serves as the primary point of direct administrative contact for the Human Resources department. Serves as the liaison for campus offices, individuals, and external institutions and agencies on a range of issues; organizes and facilitates meetings; conferences and other events as required.
Screens, analyzes, and responds to incoming departmental correspondence, handling day to day problems and situations.
Provides assistance and organizational support to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Human Resources by developing meeting agendas, attending HR leadership meetings, tracking action items, and ensuring that deadlines are met.
Independently researches, prioritizes and follows-up on incoming issues and concerns for the Associate Vice Chancellor of Human Resources, including those of a sensitive and confidential nature; determines appropriate course of action, referral, and/or response.
Receives, compiles, and maintains confidential information on behalf of the Associate Vice Chancellor of Human Resources and the Human Resources department. Reviews messages, correspondence, and supplemental material for the Associate Vice Chancellor of Human Resources. Serves as the liaison between the Associate Vice Chancellor of Human Resources and college administration and staff.
Manages the Workers’ Compensation benefit program including compliance, monitoring of claims and completion of state reports.
Serves as the liaison to the third-party vendor to assess claims. Corresponds with employees and involved parties on claims.
Performs claim management to assure that employee and departments are following procedures. Develops internal procedures for the Workers’ Compensation process. Prepares settlement documents for the legal team to present to the Board of Trustees for approval or ratification.
Prepares quarterly Workers’ Compensation report, conducts the annual Working Safely meeting to review college-wide Workers’ Compensation efforts, coordinates an annual claim review with the TPA. Serves as the main point of contact for internal and external workers compensation audits.
Responsible for responding to unemployment claims received from the Division of Employment Security of our TPA by the due date.
Responsible for attending and coordinating Division of Employment Security hearings.
Participates in development and presentation of trainings to heighten the awareness of Human Resources policies, procedures, changes and hot topics.
Administers the Tuition Waiver program.
Organizes special employee events at Corporate College on behalf of the Associate Vice Chancellor of Human Resources.
Assures the completion of annual reports for the college.
Develops, manages and updates the materials contained within the Human Resources page on the College Intranet and College Internet.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree required and 3-5 years of relevant full-time experience.
Salary Range: $53,148.00 Minimum
