Information and Technology Services (ITS) is looking for a Human Resources Business Partner, Senior to join the Administration Department within ITS.
The role will provide strategic and tactical management and Human Resource (HR) consulting to the assigned ITS groups. Proactively update assigned groups within ITS on HR-related activities and initiatives. This position reports to the ITS Director of HR and Finance.
Provide strategic HR support in employee relations, compliance, compensation, diversity, performance management, HR analysis, process redesign, succession planning, organizational development, and career development for the assigned groups within ITS and help accomplish the HR strategy for ITS. Collaborate within the HR team and the assigned management teams to support and improve organizational effectiveness, achieve our goals, and ensure that processes are communicated and implemented.
As a member of the ITS HR team
Manage projects and/or participate as a project member on university-wide HR initiatives.
Be a Subject Matter Expert for the ITS HR group concerning compensation and preferably one (or both) of the following: organizational development and/or employee/labor relations.
Help develop HR programs to support ongoing growth and capability.
Stay informed about current trends and issues within HR to keep up-to-date support for customers.
Investigate and resolve complex employee issues concerns including discrimination or harassment complaints.
Collaborate with University partners for completion and/or resolution of matters,
As an HR Partner to the client group
Partner with functional managers and the Executive Director of Administration to assess client needs. Use data points to identify the health of your client group.
Perform management and employee training for HR policies and processes.
Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
Provide training, and reinforcement to ensure successful implementation of the annual review process to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity. Work with leaders to ensure that annual reviews are done promptly.
Work with management teams to develop the recruiting, selection and hiring plan.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources (HR), Business, or related field and six (6) years of progressive HR generalist experience;
Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures relevant to HR;
Must have strong compensation knowledge and hands-on experience with job analysis, general compensation practices and salary structure design. This must include executive level compensation;
Ability to handle sensitive employee and business information with utmost confidentiality;
Excellent computer skills and extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs, i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must have strong data analytics experience to be able to interpret, chart and explain HR data; and
A Master’s Degree in Human Resources or Organizational/Industrial Psychology or related field;
PHR, SPHR, and/or SHRM certification desired;
Experience in a higher education business setting, particularly knowledge of University of Michigan policies and systems;
Demonstrated HR knowledge and experience in a technology organization strongly preferred; and
Experience working in a customer-service ticketing queue environment.

Physical Demands / Work Environment
The position offers the ability to work from the Ann Arbor campus or remotely at this time, based on business and University needs. Remote work agreements are reviewed on a yearly basis.
Average amount of time in a stationary position, average mobility to move around an office environment; able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer; travel to various locations on and off campus. Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance is required.
