WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for the smooth operation of Human Resource functions at Bosque School and for collaborating with the administration in developing a culture that enables employees to perform in accordance with the School’s mission, values and objectives and that promotes strong employee recruitment and retention. The Human Resource Manager leads and directs the routine functions of the Human Resources department including hiring, supporting managers in employee evaluation, benefits, leave, and enforcing company policies and practices while ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines. The Human Resources Manager reports to the Chief Financial & Operations Officer and collaborates frequently with all members of the Leadership Team. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage hiring, recruiting, and annual contract renewal processes to ensure clear, consistent, and compliant hiring processes
• Manage all processes in the employee lifecycle to include onboarding and offboarding procedures to include oversight of COBRA
• In cooperation with department leaders, division heads, and head of school, create, maintain and update all job descriptions for the School
• Create and maintain current all employee personnel files
• Manage the employee benefit program to include communication with benefit vendors and running the annual open enrollment process
• Manage the Worker’s Compensation program
• Prepare surveys for OSHA reporting, and miscellaneous compliance and benefits reporting including DOL and Medicare/CMS surveys
• Oversee employee wellness programs and initiatives
• Process all employee grievances while working collaboratively with supervisors and the CFOO to ensure effective communication and resolution
• In coordination with the CFO conduct if appropriate, all investigations necessary in response to employee grievances to ensure legal and ethical compliance
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and industry regulations and advise employee supervisors on legal implications of HR issues related to discipline, employee grievances, and all other HR related functions
• Manage the compliance process for substance abuse testing for the school’s CDL bus drivers
• Commitment to working with culturally diverse students, families, colleagues, and job candidates and contributing to building and maintaining an inclusive community

COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTIONS/COLLABORATIONS:

• Consult with supervisors on employee issues and work in collaboration with School administrators to document and facilitate employee disciplinary processes and implement performance improvement plans when necessary
• Assist in management and documentation of annual performance review processes, with additional administrative oversight of the staff process. 
• Collaborate with the Business Office payroll function to ensure that all employee changes have been appropriately recorded in payroll software and documented in payroll preparation files
• Collaborate with the administration to create, maintain and update the employee handbook to ensure compliant policies and procedures
• Collaborate with Academic Leaders to update and maintain the Student and Family Handbooks
• Work in partnership with administration to effectively plan and implement annual employee trainings and professional development.
• Collaboratively work with colleagues and administrators in support of the manifestation of our mission and values When disagreements arise, lean into our “cultivating community” behaviors of coming together in moments of crisis and confusion, assuming positive intent, and seeking clarification
• Maintain a professional demeanor; de-escalate conflict when it inevitably arises; seek solutions by surfacing underlying issues, and problem-solve with the appropriate colleagues/administrators
• Be a visible presence in all areas of the school and attend and support school functions

MISCELLANEOUS

• Keep informed regarding recent trends in Human Resources and be able to utilize the knowledge gained
• Attendance at staffulty meetings and professional development opportunities, deemed necessary by supervisor
• In and outside of the classroom/office, model a commitment and growth mindset towards manifesting Bosque’s mission, core values, and  Equity, Community, and Culture  Principles and Best Practices for All Employees Demonstrate a commitment to working with culturally diverse students, families, and colleagues and contributing to building and maintaining an inclusive community

QUALIFICATIONS 

• Bachelor’s degree required
• 3 - 5 years of experience in Human Resources, in a school setting preferred
• SHRM, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred
• Absolute integrity and confidentiality, coupled with an extraordinary work ethic
