Job DescriptionWe are seeking a dynamic and supportive HR Generalist to partner with the HR Associate Director within Information Technology Services at Boston College. This role is instrumental in keeping & shaping our workplace culture, recruiting top technical talent, and ensuring that our employees have a positive journey from recruitment to on-boarding and throughout their employment experience at Boston College. The HR Generalist will assist in leading and transforming our organization's approach to employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention efforts. Drives and implements specialized recruiting efforts to attract and secure highly qualified technical candidates to meet ITS recruiting and retention goals.
The ideal candidate collaborates with the HR Associate Director to establish annual diversity goals and participates in department diversity initiatives for staff and student employees. Manages the on-boarding and off-boarding processes to include new hire orientation process. Provides and analyzes HR data through the compilation of reports to measure metrics such as position activity and hiring/termination data to inform succession planning and retention efforts. This position offers a hybrid work schedule.
Essential Functions:
Recruiting & Talent Acquisition:
- Oversee the recruitment process to ensure a consistent, inclusive, and efficient hiring experience for candidates and hiring teams.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to define job roles, candidate profiles, and interview processes that identify the best-fit candidates.
- Continually researches the latest trends and recommends options and resources to attract and retain a diverse pool of ITS talent. - Uses a variety of resources to include social media, LinkedIn, and IT related associations, targeted websites, job fairs, etc.
- Supports on-boarding best practices for all ITS staff, contractors and students. Participates in the process for ITS employees to include coordination of the orientation process and related training.
Employee Engagement:
- Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture by developing and executing strategies that enhance employee engagement, job satisfaction, and overall well-being.
- Collaborate with others to develop measures to improve staff retention and monitor trends related to this topic.
- Works with the ITS HR Associate Director to formulate action plans to address areas for improvement.
Learning & Development:
- Participates in building and supporting a developmental career path for succession planning.
- Collaborates with ITS Communications & Training to identify and communicate development learning opportunities using - LinkedIn Learning and other IT tools as appropriate.
HR Reporting/Administration:
- Prepares regular HR reporting on various metrics such as turnover, recruiting activity, etc.
- Responsible for PeopleSoft data updates and the compilation of data to track organizational changes (e.g. organization charts and position reporting).
Management:
- Lead, mentor and guide a team of two administrative support staff that provide business support to the division.
- Oversees the student hiring process to include recruitment, salary setting, on-boarding and off-boarding, training and development.
Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $68,100 to $85,150; salary commensurate with relevant experience.
RequirementsBachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business or related field. Minimum of three years of recruiting (employment) experience and/or related human resources experience. Experience with training and program presentation.
Identify and articulate organizational trends and potential opportunities from an overall operational perspective.
- Ability to interact with technical, academic and business staff.
- Experienced in vendor management.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and confidential employee and student information.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize competing demands.
- Staffing agency (or recruiting) experience is helpful.
- Prior technical environment (IT) and/or higher education background is desired but not required.
