The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary
The Director of Human Resources and Faculty Affairs plays an integral role in managing the infrastructure that supports the Operational functions of Human Resources and Faculty Affairs within the Specialty POD service line. The Director will be responsible for optimizing processes in support of organizational goals. Utilizing a hands-on, collaborative approach and decision-making process, this position assists in the development of HR strategies and implementation of human resources best practices in talent acquisition, employee/labor relations, professional development and engagement, compensation, and performance management. The Director will utilize a ticketing system, such as Service Now, to track and monitor processes to ensure a consistent and efficient workflow. S/he will also identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements as needed.

In collaboration with the HR and FA Generalists, utilize HR Request/Ticketing System (Service Now) to review HR/FA transactions to ensure requests are processed on time and accurately.
Identify gaps and inefficiencies, provide standardization and improvement to all HR operational processes/systems.
Work with HR/FA team to complete requests in a timely manner and in compliance with established SLAs and other Columbia University established deadlines.
Continuously working with clients and key stakeholders to build department profiles, using metrics and other tools to accomplish HR/FA related goals and objectives.
Demonstrates the ability to prioritize and manage more than one problem at a time.
Demonstrates skills at troubleshooting problems to determine the best solution(s).
Escalate time-sensitive or high priority issues to Sr. Director in a timely manner.
Keeps Sr. Director informed of progress in solving problems, as appropriate.
Incorporate feedback into a continuous improvement initiative to make HR transactions more efficient, more accurate, and transparent; collaborate with technical teams as required for the work.
In collaboration with the HR/FA team, develop and/or maintain Job Aids for operational systems to support continuity of processes and ease of knowledge transfer.
Oversee and manage the maintenance of electronic employee files working with outside vendor.
Manage HR/FA functions and complete transactions for divisions based on specialty or areas of need.
Supervise and manage the duties and responsibilities of the HR/FA team.
Work on ad hoc projects to meet the goals and vision of the department
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor???s degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus five years of related Human Resources supervisory experience, preferably in health care, academic medical center or corporate environment.
Excellent customer service skills with an aptitude for diplomacy, building relationships, reaching consensus and collaborating, negotiation, and managing expectations. Experience using Visual Vault, Service Now and PeopleSoft strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in HR Related Field or SHRM-SCP Certification a plus.
