The AssistantVice President of Human Resources and Payroll will play a significant role in fosteringa vibrant educational community by developing the skills, advancing theprofessionalism, and supporting the needs of the faculty and staff. The Assistant Vice President will oversee theCollege's compliance with state and federal employment regulations and theformulation and communication of relevant policies and procedures. Reporting to the Vice President for Financeand Administration, the Assistant Vice President will be a member of thePresident's Cabinet, and President's Council.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop and implement a vision and strategic plan for Human Resource policies, programs, and services that advance the mission of the College;
- Serve as internal consultant to the management team, supervisors, and employees on personnel matters;
- Provide leadership in the recruitment of a diverse faculty and staff;
- Facilitate positive relations with collective bargaining units and non-unionized staff;
- Administer collective bargaining agreements and implement personnel policies;
- Serve as Chief Hearing Officer for grievances;
- Develop and implement a plan for employee success and retention;
- Develop orientations for faculty and staff and employee recognition programs;
- Lead the planning of professional development activities;
- Supervise Human Resources and Payroll staff;
- Develop and manage the department's budget, financial, labor, and personnel reports;
- Develop innovative technology solutions to address employee needs and improve Human Resources processes;
- Establish a positive working environment and promote a high level of employee morale;
- Serve as a deputy Affirmative Action officer;
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Finance and Administration.

Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Human Relations, Higher Education Administration, or Business Administration, or other related graduate degree;
- Evidence of significant leadership success;
- Six years of progressive management experience in Human Resources;
- Demonstrated success in conflict resolution and mediation;
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, a high degree of sensitivity, and the ability to collaborate, inspire others, and think creatively;
- Proven ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action and workforce diversity;
- Experience working in a diverse environment;
- Demonstrated commitment to working with underserved students;
- Two or more years of experience in an educational setting;
- Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements in the public sector.
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $120,000.00 - 140,000.00 Annual Salary
