Summary of Duties:
As a member of the WSU System Human Resource Services, the HR Assistant provides support predominantly to the WSU Spokane Health Sciences Campus with other areas as assigned. As an HR Assistant, you will apply established human resource guidelines, rules, policies and procedures to classified, exempt and academic staff. This position serves as the main point of contact for a variety of recruitment related activities including, but not limited to background check processing, reviewing, and preparing job requisitions for posting.
Additionally, under the guidance of the HR Manager and HR Analyst, the HR Assistant will perform initial reviews of position descriptions, review, develop and maintain accurate records and correspondence, assist clients, maintain files, produce reports, gather and organize documentation, and coordinate schedules.
The nature of this work requires the ability and willingness to maintain and ensure a confidential environment.
Required Qualifications:
Three years of office experience including at least six months of experience in a human resource or related setting OR equivalent education/experience.
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
Experience providing customer service both in person and/or over the phone.
Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft office programs.
Excellent attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the following areas: compensation/classification, recruiting, and labor relations.
Experience interpreting or applying labor laws.
Experience utilizing a HR Information System.
Human Resource experience in a higher education setting.
Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28. Step M is typically a longevity step.
