Johns Hopkins Public Safety (JHPS) is seeking aSr. HR Coordinator. The Sr. HR Coordinator reports to the Director of Human Resources, Public Safety and will provide a wide range of human resources support and consulting services to all public safety staff in the following areas; recruitment and employment; salary administration and analysis; employee relations; training; information analysis; Performance management; benefits interpretation; personnel records management; payroll responsibilities; HR policy interpretation and information dissemination. The Sr.HR Coordinator will work collaboratively with the public safety team to advance Johns Hopkins Public Safety commitment to safeguarding our vibrant learning and working community through holistic, progressive approaches to security that foster deep community relationships built on trust, cooperation, and mutual respect.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
In partnership with the HR Director, assists with the hiring process of the Johns Hopkins Police Department, by consulting with and supporting the Assistant Director of Background Investigations and Compliance; central recruiting experts to ensure responsiveness to applicants/hiring requirements of the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission/Code of Maryland Annotated Regulations while still being consistent with university-wide practice/policies.
Provides guidance to staff, and management on HR matters such as personnel practices and University policy, employee relations, compensation, training, recruitment, and benefits.
Assists with staff reviews through the JHU SucessFactors performance management system.
Reviews and monitors SAP access for employees and processes ISR's as appropriate access.
Serves as payroll transaction initiator and administers full-time, part-time, limited and casual staff payroll including all documentation, processing, maintaining, and reporting.
Collaborates with financial offices regarding employee overpayments.
Prepares and initiates all HR/Payroll Internal Service Requests, including overtime, merit increases, bonus supplements, and salary changes.
Serve as the primary point of contact for questions related to time and attendance for staff.
Generate routine time and attendance reports for staff to include vacation/sick time, family medical leave, short-term disability, long-term disability.
Ensures appropriate timekeeping policies and procedures are followed, including adherence to state and federal laws regarding FMLA, and other labor laws.
Assists with coordinating initial departmental efforts related Family Medical Leave (FMLA) and Short-Term Disability (STD Parental leave and Birth Recovery Leave).
Maintains integrity of all electronic employee files. Ensures all staff files are current and compliant.
Maintains employee vaccination records and ensures compliance with university vaccination policies.
Maintains a high-level of customer service by providing timely responses.
Ensures the timely completion of all online onboarding paperwork for new hires.
Works in conjunction with Central HR, Shared Services, and the Benefits Office, to act as liaison with all new and existing employees.
Serves as backup to the Director, Human Resources, Public Safety.
Researches, analyzes, and evaluates data from a variety of systems to prepare complex HR reports as requested.
Identifies process improvements and escalates issues to supervisor.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other related field.
Three years related experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior JHU experience or experience in higher education is a plus.
Experience with SAP or other enterprise resource planning software is a plus.
