The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Director of Academic Administration and Finance (DAAF), the HR coordinator provides support for Human Resources and Academic Appointment functions in the Statistics Department in Arts and Sciences (A&S).
Responsibilities
The incumbent will serve as the liaison with A&S Human Resources and Faculty Affairs Officers to manage the employment process; works closely with the DAAF to advise Principal Investigators on qualifications for hiring, assist with drafting job descriptions, posting positions on CU employment websites, in appropriate journals, and external job board sites.
The incumbent will support an all-inclusive approach to on-boarding activities for all department hires. Including background checks, and communicating hiring information to faculty and staff. The incumbent will process visa applications and renewals, assist with yearly Officer of Administration and Officer of Research recertification process.
The incumbent manages the casual hiring process, tracking temporary positions, and advising the department on the University???s causal and temporary hiring policies and procedures.
Develops and manages data to create proposals and reports for the department. Maintains all HR records, including employee files and time attendance records. Provides oversight for the additional compensation approval process
Serve as a back-up approver (1st level) for labor accounting transactions, salary distributions, and cost transfers, completed in the Human Resources system, People at Columbia (PAC), processing bi-weekly payroll in FINSYS.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent related esperience required
Two years of related experience
Other Requirements
Excellent oral and communication and interpersonal skills are necessary. Must be organized and detail task oriented with the ability to establish priorities and follow up on multiple issues in a time sensitive manner. Ability to work well under pressure with short deadlines and changing priorities is needed. Maintain confidentially. Must be computer literate with strong knowledge of MS Office (Word and Excel).
Experience working in a higher education setting preferred. Managing HR functions experience, and a working knowledge of University???s Human Resources, administrative, labor relations and financial system a plus.
