Human Resources Generalist
Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School on New York’s Upper West Side seeks a full-time Human Resource Generalist to support the School. This job will report directly to the Director of Human Resources and will assist the Chief Financial Officer and Controller as needed for specific tasks.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Recruitment & Onboarding
Develop/edit/update job descriptions/postings for all employees
Post all open positions on CGPS website and various job boards
Work with the Director of HR to update, streamline and brand the employment application process through JazzHR’s applicant tracking system.
Complete administrative tasks as needed, with regard to recruitment including coordinating prescreening/zoom calls with candidates, setting up interviews and schedules for hiring teams, posting new jobs on Paycom, coordinating reference calls, sending communications to candidates.
Conduct onboarding process with new hires, sending offer letters and tracking receipts, running background checks, sending welcome emails, registering new hires for online training, etc.
Conduct off-boarding process with anyone leaving CGPS including scheduling exit interviews, terminating employees in Paycom system.
Payroll Administration
Prepare semi-monthly payroll which would include any applicable salary changes, adjustments for unpaid time, entering any additional stipends, etc.
First point of contact for all CGPS employees with any Paycom related issues including payroll errors, system based training, etc. This includes resetting passwords, entering and updating information, generating and analyzing reports, sending communications through Paycom, etc.
Benefits Administration
Oversee entire open enrollment process including but not limited to: working with insurance brokers and Director of HR to develop annual benefit guides, inputting all plans and payroll deduction changes into payroll system, distributing all materials, point of contact for all questions regarding open enrollment, and working with vendors to ensure accurate enrollments for new plan year.
Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators.
Oversee the COBRA process, ensuring that terminated employees receive timely communication and dealing with any COBRA related issues.
Assist Director of HR with any benefit plan audits. Prepare, collect and organize data for the Business Office.
Oversee the process for all leaves (medical, parental, etc), including coordinating, tracking and completing all paperwork with regard to the leave.
File all workers compensation claims and oversee the entire process from beginning to end. Analyze processes and assess the risk of continuing the relationship with the vendor.
Reconciliation of all benefit bills ensuring accuracy and submitting PO’s for payment.
Send all mandatory notices to faculty & staff regarding benefits; TIAA fee disclosure notice, Medicare Part B, etc.
Complete and/or coordinate annual EEO Reporting, VETS 100 Reporting, Multiple worksite reports, and 403(b) non discrimination testing
Additional Responsibilities
Maintain all personnel files and standardize documentation kept on file
Prepare and distribute annual faculty contracts and staff salary notification letters
Assist with the coordination of HR related employee engagement events (i.e. staff retreats, health fairs, holiday events, retirement parties, lunch and learns, etc)?
Perform other HR and Business Office related duties as assigned by the Director of HR or CFO.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $75,000-$95,000 annually. We also offer exceptional benefits and a warm and supportive culture.

Requirements:
2-3 years of experience in Human Resources; benefits administration experience are a plus
College degree required, a Master’s degree in Human Resources management and/or other Human Resources certifications are a plus
Experience in a non-profit or independent school business preferred
