This position will fulfill operational support for leaders, faculty, and staff in two clinical departments and one research department at the School of Dentistry.
The starting salary range is $63,000 - $67,000/year, depending upon the selected candidate’s relevant experience/education and internal equity.
Our team works a hybrid schedule, with two days remote and three days on-site so we can maintain service levels for our on-site dental clinic staff and faculty.
The Human Resources Partner will be responsible for:
Functioning as a subject matter expert and building capabilities–teaching others what you know.
Working strategically with operational delivery–seeing the big picture and doing the work needed to get there.
Engaging others and delivering difficult messages–building relationships and providing direction.
Providing inspiration while speaking with candor and honesty–creating openness and connection.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruiting, Hiring, Onboarding, and Employee Life Cycle (40%)
Educate, provide guidance to, and assist managers on a daily basis with:
development of position descriptions, job postings, recruiting, talent acquisition strategies, reviewing and interviewing of candidates, selection and offer of positions, pre-employment, and onboarding processes.
workforce planning, compensation, reclassifications, and voluntary departures.
Analyze salary information and make salary recommendations for job offers, reclassifications, and other pay adjustments.
Serve on faculty search committees as the human resources representative. This includes:
ensuring consistency of each search;
monitoring and ensuring compliance in recruiting, interviewing and referring of candidates for hire;
backing up the EOAA liaison;
serve as a resource to applicants and faculty hiring managers in regards to salary determination, startup packages, private practice, relocation and benefits.
Employee Relations and Performance Management (40%)
Provide operational support and direction, with a mind toward strategic goals, for supervisors:
During the performance management process, including daily interactions, and probationary and annual reviews
With employee relations and labor relations:
Assist or lead employee relations investigations, documentation, and issuing discipline up to and including termination of appointment
Create and execute action plans as appropriate
Provide supervisors with contract interpretation for labor-represented employees and interpretation of university policy for all employee groups
Research issues such as pay equity by gathering and analyzing data and providing recommendations developed in consultation with compensation consultants in central human resources
Partner with Department Administrative support and Department Chair on initiatives, projects, processes, etc. for the department.
Training and Development (10%)
Facilitate training and development for supervisors and employees on issues related to organizational effectiveness, such as compliance with HR administration or process improvement efforts that involve change management
Present results of employee engagement surveys to departments and assist departments in action-planning
Coordinates communication with team members and management to evaluate disability accommodations, Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action, leaves, and on the resolution of complex questions regarding policies, procedures, and HR issues
Compliance and other duties (10%)
Ensures compliance with federal, state and local laws, university policies and procedures, and School of Dentistry policies and procedures
Supports communication plans to build organizational effectiveness
Provides basic information on employee benefits programs and policies or provides referrals to internal and external resources
Assists with developing policies and procedures relating to Human Resources within the School of Dentistry.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS ** Please detail all the required qualifications on your application materials **
BA/BS degree in Human Resources or related field with 2 years professional human resources experience, or comparable related education and experience to equal 6 years.
Experience with employee relations, labor/union relations, performance management, and/or coaching.
