The Senior Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for the day-to-day administrative and operational activities supporting the Human Resources Department to develop, enhance, and execute procedures and policies in alignment with the Academy’s goals and initiatives. This position requires an extensive knowledge of HR core competencies: recruiting, benefits, compensation, technology, training, organizational development, and learning and development. The ideal candidate will be proactive and have experience in handling a wide range of human resources services. This person must be exceedingly well organized, flexible, have excellent attention to detail, and able to work independently with little or no supervision.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Understand the Woodward Academy vision, mission, and strategy
Work with department leaders to ensure compliance in accordance with federal, state, and local employment requirements (e.g. FMLA, Workers' Compensation, Title VII, ADA, EEOC, ADEA, FSLA, OSHA, etc.)
Investigate and resolve employee relations issues
Provide assistance to supervisors and managers for new hire onboarding, payroll corrections, changes and additional manager self-service transactions
Coach both employees and managers on correct interpretation and administration of school policies
Deliver internal communication materials regarding benefits, compensation, and other business/human resources policies and procedures
Conduct New Hire orientation
Respond to and manage unemployment claims
Administer various functions involving leave of absences, including system administration, communication with our leave management provider, informing employees of their rights, return to work, ADA extensions and status of employment
Enter and review associate data within HRIS and payroll systems timely and accurately
Provide subject matter expertise to associates and leadership on people practices, systems, and resources
Review employment applications, resumes and other credentials
Oversee pre-screening, in-person interviews and pre-employment assessments
Screen and refer candidates for additional interviews and assist hiring managers with interviews when necessary
Provide timely follow up and correspondence
Identify gaps in the execution of recruitment strategies that ensures the attraction and selection of high potential talent and developing a strong field talent pipeline
Ensure the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information
Serve as professional subject matter expert in workers’ compensation benefits to all parties involved in the workers’ compensation program
Ensure that claims handling is conducted in compliance with applicable statutes, regulations, and other legal requirements and that all applicable academy procedures and policies are followed
Provide triage support to employees and leaders on miscellaneous matters
Perform other job-related duties as may be assigned or required

Strong knowledge of Academy policies, labor laws and regulations relating to all employment functions
Knowledge of HRIS and ATS systems; proficiency using Google Suites, Microsoft Office Suite Software and relevant tools/technology ( Paycom, UKG, and Paycor are a plus)
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
5-7 years in Human Resources related area of responsibility
Human Resources Certification is a plus
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
