Departmental Overview
The SHARE Region provides Human Resources, Research Administration, Purchasing & Reimbursement and Payroll & Timekeeping services that departments and ORUs in our region require. SHARE HR handles Payroll and Timekeeping for all of the units we serve and we work to ensure employees are paid timely and accurately.

Responsibilities
Involves recommending, developing, implementing, administering, coordinating, and / or evaluating Human Resources policies, labor contracts, statutes, programs and procedures covering several of the following: recruitment, compensation, employee relations, labor relations, payroll, benefits, welfare programs, training and development, visa procurement, inter-location transfers, and employee services.
Appointment Administration: Under general supervision, compiles personnel information,collects appointment data, monitors appointment spreadsheets and confirms appropriate authorizations and eligibility. Performs onboarding and benefits counseling as needed. Audits UCPath entries from mass or individual transactions and ensure all necessary corrections are done.
Generates reports in UC Systems; UCPath, Smartsheet, Cal Answers, GLACIER, VSPAGateway and Cognos for analysis of personnel activity, compliance and corrections. Monitors appointment end date reports and partners with the department or unit to ensure visas and reappointments are processed timely. Monitors SmartSheet GSI/GSR/Reader/Tutor appointments as well as student assistant and CWR appointments.
Provides guidance to supervisors and managers in developing job descriptions and postings, guidance on leaves for UCPath entry, and providing guidance on PPSM compensation programs, PPSM personnel policies, and procedures.
Submits UCPath templates and transactions related to student populations. Audits submissions for accuracy and timeliness of UCPath deadlines.
Works with other functional HR teams to ensure that late payments are issued timely, onboarding hand offs are managed proactively and issues that may result in a grievance are escalated.
Manages sensitive and confidential information and effectively and collaboratively interacts with client groups and other SHARE functional groups.
Under general supervision, develops professional development tracking systems and reports for client groups.
Conducts HR trends analyses and helps develop resulting recommendations.
Required Qualifications
Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations; demonstrates organizational skills and problem-solving skills. Has working knowledge of other areas of HR.
Proficient in communicating clearly and effectively verbally and in writing and in integrating information in the completion of assignments.
Demonstrated ability to handle difficult or volatile situations / individuals effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures and knowledge of functional area.
Basic knowledge of human resources policies and programs, and how they affect other organizational policies and procedures.
Knowledge of a human resources management system (HRMS), and / or other related business software programs and systems.
Education Level
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $27.19 - $30.00 hourly.
This is a 100%, non-exempt hourly paid contract appointment that ends 6 months from the date of hire.
