Purpose:A critical member of the Academy leadership team, the newly created HR Business Partner (HRBP) works closely with leadership to cultivate a positive and engaged culture for faculty and staff while advancing organizational goals. Reporting directly to the President of Nardin Academy, this position is key to advancing the Academy’s mission. As a premier private school serving the greater Buffalo area, the faculty and staff of Nardin Academy are essential to our success. This role will help Nardin sustain and implement practices that set it apart as a great place to work for our 150+ faculty and staff. The HRBP advises and coaches leadership on employee relations, organizational/talent planning, and will be responsible for maintaining HR policy and regulatory compliance.Additionally, the HRBP will enhance the Academy’s HR practices by proactively implementing HR programs and services that help the organization thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
Partners with faculty leaders to develop people strategies that meet with organizational needs and objectives
Leverages knowledge and understanding of the Academy’s operations, data, and organizational dynamics to guide, influence and support decision making
Guides the delivery and application of HR services, tools and policies in the areas of talent / organizational development and performance, recruiting, succession planning, compensation, staffing, and change management to engage the staff effectively and ensure their appropriate use across the organization
Ensures workforce practices are compliant with all local, state, and federal labor and employment laws
Maintains the Academy’s employment related policies and procedures and evolves them to remain relevant and effective with business needs and external trends
Works closely with internal colleagues to ensure that tools and policies are aligned, enhance employee engagement, and ultimately improve performance
Assists in the development of job descriptions and recruiting strategy for new and existing positions
Acts as a partner to Academy leadership in carrying out the Annual Performance Review and Annual Goal Setting processes
Partners with internal and external resources to ensure talent management and employee engagement efforts support a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace
Resolves complex employee relations issues and works with Academy leadership to address employee complaints
Coaches and develops the capability of Leaders to anticipate, mitigate and appropriately respond to organizational issues
Leads, coordinates and/or actively participates in relevant projects
Understands and anticipates the need for change, diagnoses the underlying issues and builds the case for change with stakeholders. Builds frameworks to plan and manage the continuous process of change including dependencies, risk, potential scenarios and options to mitigate
Is an ambassador for Nardin Academy in the community and regularly participates in events for students, parents, and alumni

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business or Human Resources related field
4+ years of experience as an HR Business Partner, HR Generalist, or employee relations or similar role at an organization with over 50 employees
Comprehensive knowledge of human resources principles and practices
Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local employment related laws (EEO, ADAA, FLSA, Wage & Hour)
Experience implementing or maintaining HR Compliance programs or policies
Excellent facilitation, presentation, critical thinking, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to build and maintain positive and trusting working relationships with all levels of employees.
Ability to balance multiple priorities at once, navigating ambiguity and thinking strategically while maintaining attention to detail and execution
Master’s Degree in Human Resources or Business a plus
Experience in Human Resources within an academic institution is a plus, but not required
