How will you fight for an AIDS-free generation?
The Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) is an integral part of the Foundation as we continue to prioritize our greatest resource – our employees. This person is responsible for all facets of human resources and talent strategy for the Foundation’s 3,000+ employees globally. The CHRO will serve on the Senior Leadership Team and the Global Leadership Team, while being a strategic partner to the Executive Leadership Team.
We are seeking an individual with proven excellence in developing and executing strategies for HR, including, but not limited to, recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, retention and engagement, HR compliance, diversity and inclusion, safety and security, travel, insurance and compensation. The CHRO is responsible for leading the vision, development, and execution of the Foundation’s people and culture strategy. Successful candidates will be proactive, progressive, and forward-thinking in their approaches, and have a strong passion for people and public health.
No two days are alike at EGPAF, but what can you expect in this role?
People & Culture
- Lead and inspire a global, matrixed HR team of 41 people in 13 countries through flexibility, resilience, coaching, and mentoring
- Establish credibility and trust at all levels of the organization, and provide cutting-edge and fresh approaches to all phases of the employee lifecycle
- Serve as a strategic partner to the Executive Leadership Team, Global Leadership Team, and relevant stakeholders, identifying ways to support the organization’s missions and goals through the HR function
- Provide leadership and consulting support to executives and management on matters of reinforcing culture, setting goals, developing policy, and implementing strategic objectives
- Proactively provide innovative and insightful solutions to critical people issues, and partner with senior leadership to strengthen the Foundation’s culture and commitment to our staff
- Identify key performance indicators for the HR function to work towards, tracking and analyzing trends while ensuring accountability and excellence
- Oversee global compensation program and ensure competitiveness within the market through industry research, and ensure equitable total rewards programs through employee benefits packages
- Serve as subject matter expert on HR compliance, including, but not limited to labor laws, legal compliance, and employment practices and procedures
- Ensure business continuity through progressive succession planning programs and a systemic approach to change management
- Champion a culture of learning and development through programs and initiatives that will foster employee growth and leadership development, strengthen our workforce, retain top talent, and prepare for the future
- Partner with cross-functional teams to identify and address skills gaps, talent development needs, and performance improvement opportunities
- Provide advice and counsel on culture, people, and organizational issues and opportunities
- Foster a culture of honesty, transparency, and wellbeing while championing the Foundation’s values
- Stay up to date on industry trends through relevant professional memberships and networking with HR professionals in the sector
- Promote a credible, inclusive, and authentic approach to DEI&B (diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging) globally
Administration
- Oversee facilities management in DC and Geneva office spaces
- Ensure duty of care through oversight of global travel program and global safety and security
- Mitigate the organization’s risk by overseeing and guiding the Foundation’s comprehensive global insurance program
To be successful, you will have:
- 15+ years of HR management experience with at least 5 years at a senior, strategic level leading an HR function
- SHRM Certification (CP or SCP) and/or HRCI Certification
- Bachelor’s degree
- Global HR experience in the development sector with proactive and forward-thinking approaches and solutions
- A passion for people and public health
- Ability to travel internationally (2-3+ times per year)
- Strong persuasion and public speaking skills
Bonus points if you have:
- Fluency in French or Portuguese
