This position advises and counsels assigned departments on a wide range of business and management issues involving employee and labor relations, disciplinary matters, management development, organizational design, process improvement, recruitment and retention strategies, and any other issues with which management may request assistance.

Job Description
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Assists management in identifying and resolving problems with staff, faculty or organizational structure, processes or policies that impede the creation of a positive work environment.
Investigates allegations of policy violations within the university including, but not limited to, potential violations of the Discrimination and Harassment policy, FLSA, and Abusive Conduct policies.
Develops and maintains employee information for retrieval ensuring compliance with government reporting requirements; prepares necessary government records. Gathers data to develop and deliver response to EEO and other third parties. May provide compliance reporting from internal systems.
Provides guidance to management and employees within the university regarding policies.
Assists in organizational re-design, role definition, process review and implementation and communication of same.
Counsels department management on disciplinary, training or other measures which resolve or address employee performance or conduct problems.
Partners with leadership teams to identify trends within the university that require proactive engagement and recommends strategies, policies or procedures changes to enhance the teamsâ™ effectiveness.
Works with other HR areas to develop proactive retention and recruitment strategies for staff and faculty in assigned departments.
Develops and facilitates management training forums on human resource policies, management /leadership development, team building and interpersonal skills. Identifies and refers management staff to additional trainings resources to include Washington University Learning and Development, AAIM, IMS and others.
Attends various meetings within assigned departments to provide human resource input into departmental planning, staff activities, etc.
Assists department management to strengthen the overall management team through recruitment, selection and development of the best managers.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in employee or labor relations and organizational development.
Prior management experience or additional years of experience may substitute for advanced degree.
Student affairs or Title IX experience, preferably in an academic, healthcare or research setting.
Broad knowledge of human resource areas to include compensation, benefits, payroll and recruitment.
In depth knowledge of employee relations, policies and regulations, and general organizational development techniques and tools.
Strong knowledge of human resource regulatory issues.
Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication and listening skills and high level of perception when communicating with others.
Demonstrated knowledge of the university and Medical School's culture and dynamic.
Ability to work with highly confidential information and materials.
Ability to interact effectively with senior level officials.
Required Qualifications
Bachelorâ™s degree.
Three to five years of experience.

Salary Range
$70,300.00 - $120,000.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
