The Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington (SPH-B) invites applications for the position of Human Resources Generalist. This is an exciting time of growth and transformation for our school. We are looking for someone who is collaborative, detail-oriented, data-driven, comfortable making decisions, and eager to work with both faculty and staff to deliver superior service. Strong interpersonal skills, writing skills, and a broad knowledge of HR functions are highly valued. This position will support the mission of SPH-B through a variety of tasks focused on effective and efficient HR operations, working with other members of the department to oversee the hiring and onboarding process, ensuring compliance with IU policies, and fostering a positive work environment for all.

A Bachelor's degree is required. SHRM-CP/PHR certification and experience in a human resources role within a complex organization is a plus.

Located on the flagship campus of the Indiana University system, SPH-B has more than 2500 enrolled undergraduate and 380 graduate students, 200 faculty, and 95 staff in five departments (Applied Health Science, Environmental and Occupational Health, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Health & Wellness Design, and Kinesiology). Department-Specific Responsibilities

• Assists in the review of HR workflows, create process maps and documentation, and drive efficiency through thoughtful work analysis and redesign
• Provides support to departments in the interpretation and implementation of IU policies and processes
• Builds relationships with partners across campus (i.e., IUHR, Payroll, VPFAA, administrative service areas, etc.)
• Assists with recruitment and on-boarding activities
• Generates reports in the IU information environment and supply reports to team members as needed (i.e., open position list, temporary pay reports, headcount reports, compensation analysis sheets, etc.)
• Supports and maintains HR programs and events; maintain accurate records of actions, decisions, and time frames
• Provides administrative and related support to other HR staff
• Maintains standards of confidentiality of all employee records and documents

General Responsibilities

• Counsels employees and management on various HR topics and functions; communicates and shares understanding of various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards and other government regulations.
• Researches, responds to, and addresses various employee relation issues such as FMLA, employee complaints, workers compensation, etc.
• Develops in-depth knowledge and skill in various HR functions, in addition to growing knowledge in HR policies, procedures, and legal requirements to provide quality HR guidance to employees and managers.
• Develops a thorough understanding of the business strategy and culture for RC, school or department.
• Contributes and/or manages various HR activities, projects, or initiatives, such as recruitment, onboarding, engagement, or performance management.
• Researches and stays up-to-date on relevant HR topics.
• Helps foster a positive culture and work environment; ensures and promotes an environment of diversity and inclusion.
• May conduct research and analysis for local/department HR team or COE partners and develops solutions and recommends course of action.
• May lead small projects or activities.

EDUCATION

Required

• Bachelor's degree required (degree in Human Resources preferred)

WORK EXPERIENCE

• Some experience in human resources or related experience

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
