Joining a team of HR professionals, the HR Recruiter is responsible for the overall recruitment and creation of strategic pipeline for future employees of Pitzer College. The ideal candidate will have experience recruiting in higher education, admissions and or communications industries and will have experience with diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
Essential Functions
Partner with Hiring Managers to create effective recruitment strategies within a variety of disciplines. Establish, cultivate, and maintain ongoing relationships in order to provide high-level customer service.
Develop sourcing strategies to build talent pipeline across the College.
Advertise, source, recruit, screen, phone screen, qualify, interview, and recommend professionals for open positions to fulfill staffing needs.
Partner with HR Coordinator and HR Generalist to coordinate start dates, onboarding (IT and department needs), create new hire check ins and schedule orientations.
Proactively utilize multiple sourcing strategies (i.e. internal database, social media, job boards, contact lists, networking, employee referrals, industry/university recruiting events, job fairs, etc.) in addition to other creative strategies, to locate and secure qualified candidates, often under time-sensitive deadlines.
Partner with hiring managers to identify, manage, and fill current and future positions.
Advise hiring managers regarding recruitment processes, interviewing techniques, recruiting best practices, market data and compensation.
Manage offer process to include salary recommendations, offer letter generation, and all negotiations.
Draft and edit job descriptions and advertisements and create job requisitions via the internal recruitment database/ATS, Workday Recruiting.
Ensure a smooth and positive candidate experience by providing timely and proper follow-up, interview feedback and overall recruitment process.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Partner with the Senior Specialist to analyze recruiting metrics, supervisory organization restructuring and organizational data in Workday Recruiting.
Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and maintain continued positive trend of community commitment and engagement, building strong relationships across the Pitzer community, and focused efforts to become an employer of choice.
Contribute to the positive re-branding efforts of Pitzer as a top employer.
Support continuous aligned messaging to external candidates.
Perform other related duties as required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The individual must possess knowledge, skills and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent 4-6 years of relevant experience and 3 or more years of directly related recruitment experience.
Thorough knowledge of recruitment and employment laws, practices and principles; familiarity with the hiring needs and practices of a college or university preferred.
Experience with applicant tracking systems; Workday Recruiting a plus.
Experience utilizing online sourcing resources such as LinkedIn, Indeed and social media, with the proven ability to utilize these and other networking activities to identify contact, and pipeline candidates.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to build credibility at all levels, and proactively network to establish relationships.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Proven organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple tasks in an environment with competing demands.
Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent 4-6 years of relevant experience and 3 or more years of directly related recruitment experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Systems experience: Workday HCM/Recruiting
Experience in or working with Higher Education
Licenses/Certifications: Ability to obtain Workday Pro Certification in one or more of HCM, Recruiting.
Physical Requirements: This is generally a sedentary position. Must be able to sit and operate a computer for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to assist with the set-up and tear-down of event tables, signage and other materials, including reaching overhead, grasping, pulling, pushing, stooping, bending, and twisting.
Supervisory Responsibility: N/A
Work Model: This is a temporary, 40 hour per week position, working from March - November 2023. The regular hours for this position are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. These hours may vary due to needs of the College or department. This position is eligible for hybrid work schedule.
Anticipated Starting Salary: $5,500 per month
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
