Human Resources Generalist

Midway University is seeking an organized, enthusiastic professional, to serve as Human Resources Generalist with the demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be organized, detail orientated, self-motivated, able to handle confidential information, as well as demonstrate an ability to manage multiple assignments and tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Responsible for timely and accurate payroll processing bi-weekly for the University.
• Responsible for new hire processing to include, offer letters, background checks, new hire paperwork, orientation and any necessary follow up;
• Assist the Executive Director in developing and executing personnel procedures and policies
• Work closely with the Executive Director to develop HR objectives and systems that align and support the mission and values of the University.
• Suggests new procedures and policies to continually improve efficiency of the HR department
• Assist the department with legal compliance of state and federal regulations and applicable employment laws, including overtime, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), etc.
• Develops an in depth understanding of HR software and systems
• Assists in compiling and preparing reports and documents related to HR activities
• Other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications
Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
• 1-3 years demonstrated experience creating and processing payroll.
• 2-3 years demonstrated Human Resources experience
• Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work under pressure
• Can exercise a high degree of diplomacy, discretion, and collaboration in dealing at all levels and working with confidential information
• Previous experience with HR (Human Resources) information systems and an understanding of university systems such as Paycom
• Proven experience working in a Human Resources department
• This position may require occasional evening and weekend work

Preferred Qualifications

• Preference for relevant experience in a college or university setting
• PHR certification highly desirable
