Description Human Resources Generalist
Midway University is seeking an organized, enthusiastic professional, to serve as Human Resources Generalist with the demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be organized, detail orientated, self-motivated, able to handle confidential information, as well as demonstrate an ability to manage multiple assignments and tasks simultaneously.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for timely and accurate payroll processing bi-weekly for the University.
Responsible for new hire processing to include, offer letters, background checks, new hire paperwork, orientation and any necessary follow up;
Assist the Executive Director in developing and executing personnel procedures and policies
Work closely with the Executive Director to develop HR objectives and systems that align and support the mission and values of the University.
Suggests new procedures and policies to continually improve efficiency of the HR department
Assist the department with legal compliance of state and federal regulations and applicable employment laws, including overtime, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), etc.
Develops an in depth understanding of HR software and systems
Assists in compiling and preparing reports and documents related to HR activities
Other duties as may be assigned
Qualifications Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
1-3 years demonstrated experience creating and processing payroll.
2-3 years demonstrated Human Resources experience
Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
Ability to work under pressure
Can exercise a high degree of diplomacy, discretion, and collaboration in dealing at all levels and working with confidential information
Previous experience with HR (Human Resources) information systems and an understanding of university systems such as Paycom
Proven experience working in a Human Resources department
This position may require occasional evening and weekend work
Preferred Qualifications
Preference for relevant experience in a college or university setting
PHR certification highly desirable
