The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director of Human Resources and Talent Management (HRTM), for the Office of Alumni and Development (OAD), the Senior Associate Director of Human Resources will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing our HR strategy and initiatives focusing on analytics, performance management, communications, employee relations, and day-to-day HR functions that involve all areas of the employee life-cycle. The Senior Associate Director of HR will be responsible for executing on human capital initiatives that support the overall mission and strategic direction of the department, along with managing and providing leadership to two direct reports. Strong business acumen and analytical aptitude required, with the ability to navigate gray areas to effectively problem solve.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assist in developing infrastructure that supports HRTM analytics.
Manage and evaluate HRTM metrics, data collection, reports, and dashboards that capture the work and provide information on trends to develop best practices that support department initiatives.
Partner with the Executive Director and Deputy Vice President of Administration on annual performance and merit process. Follow-up with Program Directors and Executive Team members to ensure completion of the process for each unit.
Conduct needs assessments to determine gaps in performance and recommend resources for staff development.
Manage HR staff with emphasis on team efficiency and collaboration to support best practices.
Partner with management and team members on succession planning and development of talent and retention strategies.
Manage a comprehensive group of human resource processes, which includes performance management, compensation, employee relations, HR analytics, and succession planning.
Partner with Executive Director, HRTM and the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Antiracism and Justice Team, on providing data and implementing initiatives that support a diverse and inclusive culture.
Provide recommendations, identify opportunities and develop and implement programming that supports employee engagement.
Develop and implement strategic communications to ensure that staff have timely resources and information.
Provide HR consultation on human capital issues and best practices.
Manage employee relations issues and a plan of action, ensuring that compliance with University practices and state and federal employment laws
Evaluate and provide recommendations that support employee retention.
Troubleshoot and assist staff with technology, including Salesforce and the Planning and Performance Tool, Engagedly.
Develop and update internal HR related policies and procedures within the guidelines of the University to support the needs of the Office of Alumni and Development.
Oversee the development of standard operating procedures created and utilized by the HR team.
Work with management on implementation of initiatives based on the results of employee satisfaction and engagement surveys.
Liaise with Central HR and other departments throughout the University including Disability Services, Labor Relations, Benefits, and HR Client Services.
Represent The Office of Alumni and Development on various university committees and outside professional groups and associations.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor???s degree along with four (4) to six (6) years of related experience required. Prior experience managing a team is required. Demonstrated ability working in a high volume complex environment that requires confidentiality, a high level of collaboration, discretion, diplomacy and tact. Must have strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability in problem solving and conflict resolution. Strong knowledge of human resource policies, programs and procedures, along with a comprehensive understanding of applicable federal, state and local employment laws. Strong analytical aptitude required, along with advanced skills with Microsoft Excel. Must have excellent verbal and written communications.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree desirable. Experience with Salesforce, Peoplesoft, human resources in higher education and experience with unions is preferred.
