Position Overview
This Lecturer position is associated with the Bachelor of Science degrees in Human Resource Development (HRD) and Business and Marketing Education (BME) in the Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development (OLPD) in the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD). OLPD offers interdisciplinary undergraduate degrees that prepare students to explore how individuals and organizations function in societal, community, workplace, and learning contexts. Undergraduate students in the department gain a foundational understanding of organizational culture, leadership, diversity, equity, and workplace communication and consider how organizations engage with these concepts internally and externally. Additional focused areas of study include marketing, sales education, project management, and leadership with attention to the evolving impact of technology, social identity and belonging, global and local context, as well as theories of learning and ways of knowing.
This position emphasizes the role of education and training in business and organizational settings. The selected candidate will be a part of the HRD graduate faculty group and expected to teach six (6) undergraduate courses during the 9-month academic year. Courses will include sales training, training and development, and organization development, with additional potential teaching opportunities in the areas of adult learning, marketing promotion, project management, and strategic customer relationship management. The selected candidate will also play a role in departmental efforts toward professional development related to sales education and sales training and may guide undergraduate research projects and applied/non-classroom-based experiences as needed.

Duties/Responsibilities Teaching (60%)
Primary teaching responsibilities include courses within the HRD and BME undergraduate curriculum, including but not limited to Sales Training, Organization Development, Training and Development, Strategies for Teaching Adults, Teaching Marketing Promotion, and Strategic Customer Relations.
Teach 3 undergraduate courses per each Spring and Fall semester (6 total) during the 9-month academic year.
Grade student materials which can include exams, papers, and final projects.
Submit grades in a timely manner.
Review student evaluations of teaching each semester and continually adjust to strengthen and improve pedagogical practices.
Department Liaison to Center for Sales Leadership + Education (15%)
Participate in decisions relating to the undergraduate policies, courses, and programs in OLPD, in alignment with developing needs in CSLE, in consultation with the CSLE Director and Staff.
Engage in active and continual learning about CSLE, including but not limited to sales competitions and other opportunities to engage directly with students.
Serve as instructional lead in Sales Training and other CSLE-related courses, in consultation with departmental undergraduate leadership.
Secure and maintain relationships with external parties who can deliver guest lectures related to sales training, strategic customer relations, and other key CSLE concentrations.
Engage in and provide to the department annual professional development opportunities related to sales training and other CSLE priorities, objectives, and outcomes.
Course/Curriculum Development (10%)
Develop course materials such as syllabi, handouts, exams, and other teaching materials.
Utilize program curriculum resources (lesson plans and Canvas site) to create an interactive learning experience for students, offering feedback to the program for continued refinement of curricular strategies.
Review course materials and make adjustments to meet the needs of the topic and students.
Select books and other materials for the courses in consultation with departmental undergraduate leadership.
Student Development/Advising (10%)
Support and guide undergraduate students with research projects and applied/non-classroom based experiences.
Maintain regular office hours.
Respond to student inquiries and meet with students as required.
Service/Outreach (5%)
Participate in programs, department, college, university, local/regional schools and other service or civic engagement activities.
Serve on internal committees, panels, and other department activities.
Participate in the activities of relevant professional organizations.
Appointment Details: The individual hired for this position will be appointed to a non-tenure full-time (100%), 9-month (B-Term) annually renewable (K Type) position as a Lecturer. Individuals on 9-month appointments may have, but are not guaranteed, the opportunity to teach additional courses in the summer. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Required Qualifications
An earned doctorate in adult education, human resource development, business administration, marketing education, organizational leadership, organization development, or a closely related field.
Demonstrated experience consistent with the courses listed above.
Experience engaging with students from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
Deep understanding of learning theory, including experiential learning and transformative learning.
Work experience in sales training/education in nonprofit, for-profit, and/or educational sectors.
University teaching experience and/or experience teaching adults, with a strong record of student evaluations of teaching.
Experience with the use of technology in workplace and educational settings.
Evidence of leadership in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Evidence of ability to develop and maintain collaborations with for-profit and nonprofit communities outside of the University.
Ability to help support the development of graduate teaching assistants.
