As a member of the Integrated HR Services team, this position partners with Information Technology Services leadership in achieving organizational objectives and provides consultation and advice to leadership on strategy movements with talent or people impacts. They help align the unit's mission and goals with human resources strategy. The HRBP uses professional HR concepts as a seasoned, experienced professional to apply organization policies and procedures to resolve the full range of HR-related issues. They work on diverse and complex problems, where analysis of situations requires a review of a variety of factors. They normally receive little instruction on day-to-day assignments, with some guidance provided on new projects.
Additionally, they will be required to back up other HRBP's on the team and may serve in a lead capacity, guiding other human resources professionals.
Possesses strong analytical skills to analyze and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to exercise excellent judgment in responding to employee relations-related requests.
Thorough knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, knowledge of functional areas, and understanding of how work may affect other areas. Extensive HR management experience in a large, complex organization with an emphasis in FML, EO/AA Workers Comp, Employee/Labor relations, employment/recruitment, and classification/compensation practices that include multiple sites and employment programs, preferably in a University setting.
Thorough knowledge of human resources concepts, policies and procedures, employment practices, labor relations, salary administration, training and other areas of human resources. Demonstrated success in administering performance management systems and mentoring managers on evaluating performance.
Knowledge of a human resources management system (HRMS), and/or other related business software programs and systems. Demonstrated experience in database management to extrapolate, interpret and manipulate information to provide staffing and budgetary reports and summaries.
Skilled in communicating clearly and effectively verbally and in writing. Demonstrated skills to guide managers and employees on complex and significant employee relations issues. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals and groups of management and staff to incorporate their ideas, adapt to their needs and encourage them to accept actions and decisions to implement UCSD best practices.
Demonstrated ability to handle very difficult or volatile situations/individuals effectively. Demonstrated interpersonal skills required to effectively interact with the public, faculty, students and staff in daily operations and via formal presentations.
