Director of Finance and Human Resources for ISP
Reporting to the Associate Provost and Dean, the Director of Finance and Human Resources will serve as a member of the senior leadership team for the International Studies and Programs (ISP) Dean’s Office. In this role, the Director of Finance and Human Resources will participate in the development of ISP-wide strategic plans and goals while ensuring that fiscal, human resources, and administrative activities enhance and align with the strategic initiatives of International Studies and Programs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Budget & Finance (50%)
Direct and manage the financial operations of ISP Dean’s Office and units, including the planning and budgeting process, resources utilization and preparing and submitting applicable reports to central administration
Lead the preparation of annual planning and budgeting allocations and make budget decisions in conjunction with the Associate Provost and Dean
Analyze and interpret financial reports to monitor progress and changes in financial status
Keep ISP Dean’s Office senior leadership team informed of ISP’s financial status
Provide leadership and expertise to ISP unit staff who are responsible for budgeting, identifying, and allocating resources
Address and resolve financial difficulties, challenges and opportunities
Serve as financial contact and/or provide oversight for externally funded projects, as needed
Human Resources (30%)
Direct and develop human resources policies and procedures for ISP Dean’s Office and units
Counsel and make recommendations to deans, directors, and staff on union contract interpretation, performance management, employee relations, and workplace issues
Serve as Dean’s level reviewer and approve human resources transactions in Enterprise Business Systems (EBS)
Attend leadership team meetings and retreats
Supervise, train, develop, and evaluate direct reports
Liaise with university departments, administrators, and stakeholders
Monitor and ensure adherence to university policies and procedures, state and federal regulations
Other duties may be assigned as needed
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Business Administration, Accounting, Management, or related field; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in financial or accounting practices, developing research projects, funding and grant practices and/or experience in a field related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in financial or accounting practices and/or human resources administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of financial, accounting, human resources, and business management principles and practices; ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections; knowledge of contracts and grants administration; ability to recognize complex problems and develop effective solutions; ability to motivate, coach, develop, and direct people as they work; knowledge of university, state, and federal regulations related to financial and human resources management; experience with an ERP system; ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
