The HR Director develops and coordinates Human Resources policies, programs and practices throughout the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston and their 7 Sponsored Ministries, including, but not limited to, employment, wage and salary administration, training and development, safety and health, benefits and employee services. Director of Human Resources will work closely with Finance Department and Payroll Company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the design, implementation, evaluation and communication of benefits
Administers all employee enrollment, termination, billing of benefits including pension, 403(b) plans, flexible spending account programs, medical, dental, life (employer paid and voluntary), voluntary short term and long-term (employer paid and voluntary) disability programs.
Bills monthly Bethany Health Care and Bethany at Home for health; dental; employer paid life insurance and long term disability; and voluntary life insurance and short term disability
Monthly supplies Accounting with Benefit Withdrawal and Charges Reports by all 8 locations
Works with payroll company regarding all location benefits and when issues arise
Contacts employees when notified by health and dental companies their dependent children have aged off plans
Contacts employees who are turning 65 regarding Medicare and related issues.
Administers the CSJ Self-Administered Unemployment Program
Administers Worker’s Compensation Programs
Attends Fringe Benefit Committee meeting to assist Director of Administration and Finance with Benefit proposals
Assists management with the annual review, preparation and administration of wage and salary programs. Assures that the Congregation’s compensation program is competitive and equitable.
Monthly provides Accounting salary payments for Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston employed at the Motherhouse and their 7 Sponsored Ministries
Prepares staffing budgets for the Congregation and their 7 Sponsored Ministries
Maintains responsibility for compliance with federal and state legislation as it pertains to Personnel matters
Communicates changes in the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston and their 7 Sponsored Ministries personnel policies and procedures and ensures proper compliance is followed
Orients new hires, and processes all new employee and change of status forms.
Maintains all employee records and implements procedures for controlling personnel transactions and reporting personnel data.
Assists supervisors with employee relations problems as they arise, and exercises general supervision to promote and maintain a high level of morale throughout the facilities.
Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by Director of Administration and Finance or, on personnel matters
Responds to employee inquiries, verifies employment and provides various other employee services.
Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures that the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston and their 7 Sponsored Ministries compliance.
Administers recruitment and employment programs, assuring compliance with Federal and State employment laws.
Prepares periodic reports to the Director of Administration and Finance and the Executive Council as requested.
All other duties as needed within the scope of the job.
B.S. Degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent combination of training and experience.
5 years professional experience.
Working knowledge of Massachusetts labor and employment laws.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
