Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a HR Relations & Client Specialist for University Human Resources (UHR). As a part of UHR Business Partner Services, the incumbent in this position will work in partnership with key stakeholders to implement programs and procedures to advance the goals and objectives of University Human Resources and the University. In consultation and collaboration with The Office of University Labor Relations ensures compliance with contract provisions of staff unions. The position participates in and provides research and administrative support for special projects and performs other duties as required.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Facilitation of New Employee Onboarding
Temporary Workforce Administration (Type 3 and 4 employees)
Develop, implement, and maintain effective HR strategies
Performance improvement planning and disciplinary processes
Advisement on reorganizations/change management/resolution
Provide guidance with generating Offer Letters, Layoff Letters, etc.
Assisting clients with creating job descriptions/CARFs for classification of positions
Data processing of OPRA, FOIL and Pass the Trash requests
Create metrics, audit reports, and pull data for review of HR transactions
UHR special projects as assigned
HR client projects as assigned
Benchmarking, process improvement planning/review/recommendation
Communicate and ensure HR compliance
Provide training and establish resources and job aids for HR Liaisons (i.e., HR processes, procedures, and policies)
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
A minimum of two years' experience in human resource management to include classification, recruitment, staffing, performance management, training, and compliance with applicable federal and state employment laws.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have the ability to work in a dynamic, highly sensitive environment; and have excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated track record in delivering exceptional client service; ability to navigate complex policies, contracts, and legal mandates to assist clients in achieving organization goals; ability to work well in a team environment and foster a positive, productive, and progressive work environment. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products and HRIS systems also required.
Experience in higher education and in a unionized environment preferred.
