Job Overview
The Human Resources Policy & Procedures Specialist serves as the subject matter expert on all aspects of HR Policy and Compliance and has the ability to influence and administer business processes as statutory regulations may require.
They are responsible for a broad portfolio of projects that ensure the practices and procedures across all campuses and departments conform to University Human Resources policy as well as local and federal regulations. As well, they regularly assess existing policy and practices and develop new HR policies and procedures, including the areas of statutory compliance, reporting, and document management.
Work Interactions
Reporting to the Senior Director of Employee & Labor Relations, the Human Resources Policy & Procedures Specialist works closely with colleagues in all areas of HR - including but not limited to Client Services, Classification and Compensation, HCM, Talent Acquisition, and Benefits - to identify opportunities for developing robust techniques and procedures that support compliance at all stages of the employment cycle.
They partner with HCM Services on the review of the work performed by Human Resource Contacts outside of central Human Resources, and provide review/recommendations to HCM Services team and trainer(s) on compliance training programs, including but not limited to the expansion of employment in all 50 states and policy impacts for HR processes.
They also serve as HR's point of contact for University Departments with oversight responsibilities for other regulatory responsibilities, including but not limited to working with University stakeholders and individual departments on matters ranging from FMLA to Unemployment, and protection of minors.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
3 to 5 years of broad-based human resources experience
Knowledge of human resources policies, regulatory requirements and best practices for employment records maintenance and management - preference may given for policy and compliance experience in a large organization
Experience managing large-scale projects serving diverse constituencies
Superior writing skills
Ability to stay informed on changing regulatory obligations and their impact on the University Proficient use of MS Office
Excellent analytical skills and communication skills, as well as technical facility with HRIS systems and databases
Preferred qualification
Experience with Workday and PeopleDoc
