Reporting to the Director, HR Communications and Engagement, this role is responsible for assistance in transmitting the vision, mission, and priorities of Harvard Human Resources (HHR) through the development and execution of engaging EDIB-centered internal and external communications strategy. This includes contributing to a robust social media presence incorporating brand marketing and setting the building blocks of Harvard's employment value proposition. Key responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:
In collaboration with the Director, this position contributes to the strategic direction of HHR communications consistent with the University's and HHR's mission, vision, and priorities.
Manages Outings & Innings team and program.
Contributes to the roadmap to modernize the look, feel, and methods used to communicate to and engage Harvard staff around HR, benefits, services, and other employee-related programs and resources.
Helps guide internal communications plans and effective delivery strategies.
Follows a distinctive HHR brand voice and guidelines that align with and inform the University's mission and priorities. Ensures brand integrity across all communications and technology platforms.
Reviews and edits specific documents drafted by subject matter experts to ensure they are written in an appropriate and inclusive manner for the targeted audience and comply with voice and branding guidelines.
With content input from functional areas, develops and crafts print-based and digital communications (e.g., policy manuals, internal newsletters, process handbooks, compensation and benefits information, Job Postings for social media platforms, HR programs, etc.)
Work across HHR to develop internal publications such as newsletters, press releases, email announcements, planned publications, social media, intranet, videos, special projects, and initiatives in ways that are mutually reinforcing.
Assists in developing annual and initiative-specific communications plans and campaigns, from strategy to implementation, to advance internal and external HHR announcements and programs
Builds understanding of the digital and social landscape and key audiences.
Partners with internal project teams on approaches for effective employee communications.
Ensures all communications and platforms utilize inclusive language and are digitally accessible for all audiences.
Collaborates with University-wide HR departments and other stakeholders to create the employer value proposition at HHR to be integrated within all talent acquisition and retention efforts and in support of culture rich in affirmation, gratitude, and connectedness to the University's mission.
Leads the coordination to plan, manage, and implement university-wide employee recognition programs (including Harvard Heroes and Service Milestones) and perks.
Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, belonging, equity, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, language, and communications with others.
Other duties and projects as assigned.

Union: 00 - Non Union, Exempt or Temporary
Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or a related discipline or equivalent work experience required. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or related experience.
Advanced degree preferred.
Experience developing and implementing communications strategy, managing direct and indirect reports.
Requires exceptional written and verbal communications skills, creativity, responsiveness, active listening, sound judgment, persuasiveness, and the ability to convene and lead by influence respectfully and collaboratively.
Previous managerial experience and successful mentoring team members in their professional skills.
Advanced digital skills and social media understanding; fluent in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
Familiarity withprojectmanagementtools, proficiency withcommunications technologies,and ability to learn new technologies as they emerge.
Proven experience managing digital content strategies.
