Job Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist recommends strategies to motivate employees and build a positive work culture. This position is responsible for coordinating and managing all human resources functions including compliance, benefits, employee relations, policy review, and compliance.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Talent Acquisition and Recruitment Process
- Assist in talent acquisition and recruitment processes
- Partners with hiring managers by identifying candidates and pre-screen/interview applicants.
- Schedule interviews with Managers and/or Directors.
- Initiates the employment offer process:
- Drafts offer documents, extend offers of employment, process background and drug screenings.
- Initiates and processes new hire paperwork.
- Facilitates new hire onboarding process.
- Schedule onboarding orientation
Compliance
- Administer all 401(K) Plan payroll contribution processing and 5500 Compliance administration.
- Provide HR policy guidance and interpretations.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Manages and maintains employee files and records in electronic format. Ensure records are complete and in compliance with Federal and State regulations.
- Completes and maintains I-9 records, E-Verify compliance, and work authorizations.
Compensation & Benefits
- Administers employee benefit plans, such as group health, flexible spending accounts, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, COBRA, workers compensations, Leave events, and 401(k).
- Conducts benefits orientations and administers the benefits self-enrollment system as needed.
- Ensures benefit changes are entered appropriately for application and proper payroll deduction of premiums.
- Ensure compliance with labor regulations.
- Collaborates with the external benefits broker on yearly Benefits Open Enrollment. Communicates to employees the timeframe, benefits, and changes from the previous year. Leads employee benefits fair/events and meetings as needed.
- Maintain HR-Information System, Payroll System, and Time Management System.
- Prepare and process monthly payroll for all staff.
- Prepare and process special check runs (ex: bonus, severance, etc.).
- Research, coordinate, develop, and maintain employee pay schedules
Employee Relations
- Works with the outside employment law attorney on handling complex employee relations issues and investigations, as necessary.
- Organize and coordinate quarterly and annual employee performance reviews and assist Executive Team with identifying performance incentives including compensation.
- Provide support in various HR-related topics such as compensation, paid-time-off, performance management; attends and participates in progressive discipline, involuntary separations, and investigations; conducts exit interviews and processes employee separations.
- Enhance employee experience by resolving issues promptly, applying new perks and benefits and organizing team building activities.
Administration
- Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures, and ensure they are implemented appropriately after approval.
- Collaborates with managers and directors to develop and maintain employee job descriptions.
- Assists with other HR special projects or initiatives as needed.
Education and Experience:
- Three plus (3+) years’ experience in the HR field with knowledge of general HR administration and compliance or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
- SHRM or HRCI certification(s) highly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of payroll processing, earnings, and deductions principals.
- Knowledge of state and federal employment law, including HR technical knowledge of EEO, FLSA, ADA, unemployment, and worker's compensation.
