This position performs a wide variety of human resources services in the areas of staffing, recruitment, new appointment procedures, and general administrative support to The Wisconsin Union. The HR Generalist will be a resource for employee questions as well as advising on HR policies and procedures.

• 25% Provides consultation, performs analytics, and/or maintains personnel files, communications, and materials for work unit through various mediums
• 25% Executes and audits work transactions and changes adhering to established policies and procedures to meet anticipated deadlines
• 20% Receives, responds to, and resolves employee questions and problems
• 20% Represents unit/program at institutional workshops, informational meetings, and training sessions
• 10% Contributes to the development, implementation, interpretation, and revision of work unit Human Resources policies and procedures according to institutional and legal rules and regulations

Previous Human Resources experience preferred.
Candidate must be self-motivated and have the ability to function in a high-volume, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
Ability to work work well in a team and independently.
Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail, establish priorities and organize tasks where daily distractions occur and multi-tasking is often required.

The Wisconsin Union operates two buildings on the UW-Madison campus. The Wisconsin Union is a financially self-supporting division of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Financial support for the organization is provided by income earned by twenty-two food service units and a variety of nonfood units such as games, guest rooms, space rentals and campus vending. Substantial support is also provided by student fees. The total annual organizational budget is approximately $45 million dollars.

Student Affairs is led by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. Our staff is dedicated to serving students and to helping them succeed in and out of the classroom in areas including health and well-being, identity and inclusion, leadership and engagement, and student advocacy. Student Affairs includes departments led by the dean of students; departments that provide identity-based spaces and leadership resources; the Wisconsin Union; University Health Services; and University Recreation and Wellbeing.
