HUMAN RESOURCES (HR) REPRESENTATIVE 1, School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (SHASS), to provide HR support to the SHASS community. Responsibilities include initiating and/or reviewing for accuracy and approving, confidential HR transactions, e.g., new hires, terminations, extensions, appointment changes, etc.; providing HR support to SHASS administrative officers and maintaining HR records; using clearly defined SHASS guidelines and MIT Policies and Procedures to determine appropriate actions; ensuring promotion and tenure cases are uploaded for School Council review and auditing to ensure compliance with SHASS guidelines; submitting requisitions for posting and advertising, scheduling interviews, preparing interview materials, and disseminating to hiring managers; coordinating with HR team on all aspects of the rewards and recognition program, including sending out thank you notes, placing gift orders, maintaining inventory, etc.; assisting with meeting and event coordination, including room reservations, catering, and set-up/clean-up; serving as SHASS parking coordinator; updating faculty leave charts, leadership rosters, and email lists; performing routine intranet updates; assisting with the distribution and collection of documents for the academic instructional staff promotion and review cases; acting as occasional backup for the SHASS front desk and Dean's executive assistant; and performing other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; three years' administrative experience, preferably providing HR support; attention to detail; strong copyediting and proofreading skills; willingness to pitch in as needed; flexible approach to the working environment; and experience with and comfort learning software applications as needed. Must be able to work on projects independently yet accept supervision; maintain confidential information; and handle multiple projects/tasks simultaneously, complete assigned tasks, and meet deadlines.
