Title: Manager of Human Resources
Reports to: CFO and Head of School
Position Description:
This position supports the Head of School and CFO in maintaining fair and equitable hiring, evaluation, and, when necessary, termination practices; cultivating a safe and supportive working environment; and actively fostering a warm and welcoming community where all individuals feel supported in contributing to the success of the students and organization. Additionally, the Director of Human Resources oversees benefits and compliance with the faculty handbook and communicates proactively with staff to ensure they have all they need to be successful, thrive, and support the students and mission of the school within the context of their work. The Director of Human Resources also manages and implements payroll and all benefits.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced human resources generalist who can provide a comprehensive range of HR support to faculty, staff, and administration.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Foster a warm and welcoming community
- Ensure all employees have what they need to achieve, to grow in their work, and to support the students and mission of the school
- Support the ongoing development of a culture where all individuals can bring their full identity to the table
- Act as a primary contact for employees with HR-related questions including, but not limited to, payroll, benefits, and policies
- Oversee faculty orientation and the on and off-boarding in coordination with
academic leaders and conducts end-of-year and exit interviews - Oversee the annual update of the faculty and staff handbook
- Organize the temporary hiring of substitute teachers
- Update and educate faculty on the handbook and work with members of the
administrative team to see that school policies are implemented in a fair and
consistent manner - Administer benefits programs including, but not limited to, health, dental, and vision insurance, FSA, 403(b) Retirement Plan, Supplementary Disability, Life/ADD, FMLA, COBRA, etc.
- Ensure compliance with and required training on federal and state statutes and laws, including but not limited to FMLA, PFL, ADA, and, Sexual Harassment
- Organize the hiring process; recruit and manage open positions
- Administer the payroll process through detailed spreadsheet analysis, including auxiliary programs and the journal entry into our accounting system
- Perform background checks, coordinate and/or conduct reference checks, and ensure all personnel are in compliance with the requirements of Article 43
- Maintain employee personnel files
- At the direction of the Head of School, provide support, including recommendations, on investigation or conflict resolution processes
- Coordinate, prepare, and distribute annual faculty and staff contracts
- Manage and track time and attendance for faculty and staff
- Other duties as assigned

- Excellent in written and verbal communication and organizational skills
- Strong knowledge of ADP Workforce Now and MS and G Suites
- Bachelor’s degree and experience in an appropriate field are required; independent school experience is preferred
