Under the direction of the HR Director of Employee and Organizational Development or Executive Director of HR Partners and in support of HR's strategic objective to deliver progressive internal HR communications, variety of information and services designed to build and sustain an engaged and highly competent workforce, the HR Communications Specialist independently oversees and maintains the HR website ensuring information is current and relevant; researches, develops, and administers HR communications and projects, and; leads the department in the overall development and publishing of professional HR communications to the campus and beyond. The Specialist independently and/or collaboratively researches content and develops PowerPoint/Visio presentations/resource documents designed to effectively inform management on key, high priority HR issues; leverages analytics and reports to determine effectiveness and seeks continual improvements of communication initiatives. The incumbent develops queries and generates meaningful metrics in direct support of the operations of HR; maintains records and generates reports for a variety of HR communications/functions. The position provides support with UC Riverside's Office of Communications' projects related to HR communication initiatives.

Minimum RequirementsExcellent written, verbal, interpersonal communications, active listening and political acumen skills.
Advanced knowledge and understanding of technical applications to direct professional technical staff, or personally perform technical work, including design concepts, various media, and applications.
Advanced skills to create, develop, and implement long and short term strategic communication plans.
Advanced skills to advise and consult management on all aspects of communications, ranging from developing effective communication strategies to appropriately responding to inquiries regarding sensitive or complex issues or information.
Advanced knowledge and understanding of all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media venues, technical aspects and requirements of various venues, and most appropriate and effective applications.
Excellent analytical, critical thinking, project management, and problem recognition, avoidance, and resolution skills.
Preferred QualificationsThorough knowledge of location protocols and channels for communication internally and externally.
Advanced knowledge of the organization, including its mission, vision, goals, policies, and infrastructure; strong knowledge of current affairs and issues in higher education and/or health sciences.
