Job Description:
- Partners with the Senior Director and Assistant Director of Human Resources to build talent capability across CSL through talent acquisition, talent development, engagement, organizational design, compensation, employee relations, and diversity and inclusion.
- Conducts employee and manager issue reviews, provides resolution along with longer term root cause analysis of why issues occurred, makes recommendations, and drives improvement initiatives.
- Advises CSL department leaders on job leveling, posting language, recruitment, and compensation to ensure successful candidate outreach and optimal talent levels.
- Builds and cultivates trust allowing for open and transparent dialogue supporting a feedback culture through coaching and accountability.
- Connects resources to align structures, policies, processes, programs, systems, and people with strategy, vision and mission of CSL.
- Maintains knowledge of University Human Resource policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local employment and labor laws staying abreast of changes and implementing the changes into the day-to-day workflow.
- Develops and maintains a deep understanding of the operation and culture to inform leadership on departmental and organizational priorities and concerns to drive initiatives.
- Analyzes trends and metrics in collaboration with internal and external partners to develop and implement solutions, programs and organizational practices.
- Manages and resolves employee relations issues by conducting thorough and timely investigations to resolution and debriefing to put into practice solutions that mitigate future concerns.
- Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to leadership (e.g. coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions) and manages employee relation issues including restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
- Develops, implements and oversees HRIS data management activities, including Workday and corresponding processes.
- Counsels employees on compensation. Coordinates with managers, and CSL HR to determine employee compensation. Analyzes data and prepares charts, graphs, and trend lines for management review with a moderate level of guidance.
- Supports staff hiring processes, including developing job descriptions, interviewing and reference checking, handling employment offers, and conducting orientation. Drafts templates and routine offer letters. Maintains appropriate human resources data and records, solving a range of straightforward problems using standard procedures.
- Provides professional support to a unit's employee/labor relations efforts, including handling grievances, disciplinary warnings, and employee complaints.
- Performs other related work as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelorâ™s degree.
- Masterâ™s Degree in Human Resources or Labor Relations.
Experience:Â
- Experience as a Human Resources Generalist.
- Core HR processes including talent acquisition, retention, performance management, onboarding, compensation, coaching, training, staff engagement, labor relations, and development.
- Recruiting using digital and social techniques.
- Experience working in a decentralized organization.
- Working knowledge of employment regulations.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
- Microsoft Office tools including Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio experience.
- Workday HRIS or HRIS experience.
- MS Teams, Zoom, and shared drives experience.
- Experience working in a decentralized organization.
