Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President/HRIS, the Student Employment Program Coordinator provide support for the day to day operations of the Student Employment/Work Study Program. Job responsibilities include recruitment, placement and records management related to the program; oversight of electronic resources that support program administration including website and database resources. The role of Coordinator engages with students, faculty, staff, and other members of the university community to manage staff student work study positions and manage the respective pay processes. As a condition of employment, Duquesne University requires all new employees —full-time and part-time, including adjunct faculty—to get a COVID-19 vaccine and provide proof of their vaccination upon commencement of employment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Acts as liaison between students, human resources staff, university departments, parents and the general public facilitating inquires related to the University and more specifically the Student Employment Program.
Assists in overall administration of student employment including candidate referral. Works closely with University departments to fill student vacancies; works in close relationship with the Office of Financial Aid to coordinate eligible student aide candidates.
Plans and coordinates seasonal and annual recruitment and position management activities in support of the University’s Student Employment Program.
Manages the onboarding process for student hiring including background checks (as needed), and required employment forms.
Provides support to internal and external department managers to address staffing needs and provide administrative guidance on hiring requirements inclusive of support in writing job descriptions and interviewing strategies.
Assists departments with employee relations issues related to the program and works with the Assistant Vice President and the Employee Relations Manager to resolve complex issues.
Manages the Student Employment Ticket System assisting students and supervisors with communications and issues that arise in the program.
Participates in training and development for student aide supervisors.
Conducts pay and financial aid work study audits on a regular and as-needed basis.
Updates student employment web site to assure accurate and timely information is posted.
Keeps in regular contact with student aide supervisors, including those off-campus, regarding important announcements and other information.
Represents the Student Employment Program and the Office of Human Resource Management at University information sessions and open houses.
Serves as a backup to the office receptionist in absence of student aides, during vacations, and at other needed times.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Completes other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or related field from an accredited institution. 1 – 2 years of related human resources experience.
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Ability to coach and counsel in the area of student employee relations.
Ability to demonstrate a solid computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, & Access.
Ability to generate reports.
Familiarity with web posting and content management software, preferably Ingeniux, or ability to learn.
Basic knowledge of employment laws and recruiting principles and practices.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and with multiple projects.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the general public.
