The Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC is looking for a trustworthy, knowledgeable, energetic and highly organized Human Resources Leave and Workers' Compensation Coordinator to join the HR team.
This position plays a critical role in the HR operation at Dentistry, PT & OT. This role will be responsible for supporting all WC, leaves, and disability functions. Individual will work closely with the HR Manager to develop & implement short/long term strategic plans focused on culture, engagement, customer service focused on positive employee work environments. This individual will also create tracking systems to document the activities and to stay complaint. Â
In this fast paced, ever-changing environment, the selected candidate will have responsibilities that include but are not limited to:
Assists in the internal resolutions of employee grievances.
Facilitate interactive dialogue/return to work effort by involving the manager.
Maintain detailed, accurate, up-to-date records on leaves/disability, WC cases.
Maintain Health & Safety Compliance records involving compliance requirements.
Assist in developing efficiency, streamlining processes in the department and create SOP's.
Provides guidance for staff on university payroll and personnel policies and procedures
Assists staff with salary administration questions and ensures payroll transactions are delivered in a timely fashion
Tracks central department budgets and reconciles Account Status Reports.
Support and participates in the New Hire On-boarding process.
The successful candidate should have an excellent understanding of FMLA/CFRA/PDL laws as well as ADA involving worker with disability. Understanding of Cal/OSHA guidelines in a healthcare industry. Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal, and written. Also, it is critical for this individual to have organizational skills, build and maintain strong relationships with client groups, trust, integrity and the ability to maintain confidentail information
Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree
Preferred Experience: 3 years
Preferred Field of Expertise: Payroll and personnel experience preferably in a university setting, previous experience with FMLA/CFRA/PDL laws, previous experience managing Worker's Compensation claims.
