Reporting to the Assistant Director, Human Resources, the Human Resources Coordinator (Coordinator) supports all Human Resources functions in the School of Professional Studies. The Coordinator will work closely with the Human Resources staff and will respond to all inquiries in a timely and efficient manner and exemplify the customer service values and standards representative of the School of Professional Studies. The Coordinator will work independently and will need to exercise discretion, tact, and professionalism when dealing with professional staff.
Assist with the recruitment of staff by posting positions on Columbia???s job sites and appropriate advertising sources, scheduling in-person meetings, managing the I-9 process; completing pre-hire background checks, processing all new hires and any employment-related changes, and participating in search committees for junior level positions
Serve as the first point of contact for all new administrative staff; contact new employees to collect the required information and HR paperwork (tax forms, personal information forms, etc.); participate in the SPS new hire orientation; liaise with SPS Business Services to ensure equipment set-up and space for all new hires
The Coordinator will take the lead in managing SPS???s IBC Program by managing the onboarding of all Resident Advisors. The Coordinator will attend all planning meetings and provide suggestions for process improvement. The Coordinator is responsible for resolving all employment issues regarding the program by working with the Assistant Director of HR, Office of Student Affairs and Senior HR Business Partner to resolve; will ensure all Resident Advisors complete compliance training and background checks, as required and will address all payroll issues
Process all compensation related changes (promotions; merit increases, special adjustments, etc.)
Assist with the planning and logistics of all training and development programs; enroll students, send out training information to prospective students; track responses
Assist with monitoring the performance management process
Responsible for creating new employee personnel files; ensure that all HR files and records are accurate and up-to-date
Order and track HR office supplies
Responsible for maintaining the Time, Labor, and Absence Management System (TLAMs)
Oversees the HR general inbox
Provide back-up support to the HR Assistant Director and Directors
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor???s degree or equivalent required
0-2 years of related experience

Experience with Columbia University systems including PAC, TLAM, DIA, TalentLink, and Handshake, and external systems such as VINDLY, I-9 Express, and DocuSign
Strong service orientation and excellent interpersonal skills

Strong knowledge of MS Office and Visio
