The Director of Human Resources will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) office, including overseeing hiring processes, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.
This is a full-time position and will report to both the Director of FInance and Operations for all payroll and audit (both financial and ERISA) matters and to the Chief Operating and Financial Officer for all other responsibilities.
Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
Recruits and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for non-faculty open positions; collaborates with department managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. For faculty positions, collaborates with the Division Directors on best practices for faculty hiring.
Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications, includes maintaining of drug and alcohol screening records for transportation staff.
Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs, as well as off-boarding activities.
Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; maintaining employment records; and training and development.
Responsible for all aspects of the School’s retirement plans, including managing the ERISA annual audit and transmitting the TIAA contributions in a timely manner.
Responsible for performing the quarterly 941 reconciliations for the financial statement audit.
Responsible for inputting data into the NAIS portal for DASL and ensuring accuracy of such data.
Responsible for tracking budgeted salary and fringe benefits expenses and comparing to projected expenses and then reporting to both the Director of Business and FInance and the Chief Operating and Financial Officer.
Coordinates risk management activities in conjunction with appropriate department managers, including injury & incident reporting.
Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
May on occasion attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, management, and employment law.
Processes payroll and related employee contribution submissions and maintaining personnel files.
Responsible for reconciling certain payroll general ledger accounts on a monthly basis, which include the 100% employee benefits paid, payroll clearing, payroll taxes, retirement benefits and commuter benefits.
Evaluate processes and technology solutions to improve engagement with employees, including HRIS.
Issues annual employment agreements and term sheets.
Coordinates Employee Fund requests with the Head of School, COFO and the Director of Business and Finance.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
At least three years of human resource management experience is preferred.
SHRM-CP or PHR certification is required.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
