Create a strategic vision for a workplace where employees thrive and excel. Lead the Human Resources department in delivering quality consultation, high-quality programs, mission-based resources, proactive data and analytics, and responsive services to the campus communities. Lead, mentor, supervise, and evaluate the HR staff as they develop a talented workforce that contributes to the mission of CSB and SJU, advances the institutions' visions, and collaboratively meets institutional goals.
Advise division heads and department supervisors on hiring processes, employment policies, employee relations issues, and disciplinary actions ensuring consistency in employment practices and fair and equitable treatment of employees. Consult with legal counsel, as necessary.
Research, develop, and implement competitive compensation, benefits, and performance appraisal programs. Manage compensation administration to include salary survey collection, wage and salary plan design, compensation plan research, and annual compensation and market/range adjustments. Support the CSB and SJU Board Chairs in executive compensation review and the contract renewal process for the president(s).
Support and expand a campus culture of transformative inclusion through active leadership in campus wide DEIJ initiatives and programs. Model commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice work. Lead collaboratively with other campus leaders to attract, hire, and retain a diverse workforce and to advance the institutions' commitment to DEIJ in all HR systems, policies, and practices.
Serve as Affirmative Action Officer formulating the institutions AA/EEO plans and conducting required reporting.
Serve on the institutions' Title IX team and as an adjudicator for human rights or sexual misconduct cases involving employee respondents. Provide guidance on the institutions' child protection policies in response to reports of suspected abuse, and report status to the Child Protection Report Team. Investigate and/or respond to reports received through the institutions' Ethicspoint System.
Identify key performance indicators for the institutions' human resource and talent management functions; assess institutional success and market competitiveness based on these metrics.
In collaboration with CSB Executive Director of Facilities, represent management in union negotiations for the International Union of Operating Engineers. Initiate planning for negotiation meetings; represent interests of management in the negotiations process; communicate with union leadership and stewards; and maintain official records of contract changes.
Ensure compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements. Develop and recommend effective new or revised policies in response to institutional needs or legal/regulatory changes. Maintain current and comprehensive staff handbooks, work directly with the Faculty Handbook Committee Chair on HR policies and procedures relevant to Faculty.
Create effective and comprehensive professional development, and leadership and training programs for all levels of the organization that reflect the mission and strategic goals of the institutions. Connect the program with employee goals and performance.
Represent the CSB/SJU Human Resources internally/externally on committees, task forces and in professional networks. Actively engage in professional organizations and development activities with CUPA-HR and SHRM to remain current in the field and to advance HR management on campus.
Collaboratively plan and execute campus-wide employee recognition, events, and wellness activities.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice Presidents or Presidents.
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or related field and senior-level professional certification in Human Resources (SPHR, SCP). Master's degree preferred.
Demonstrated HR leadership experience for an organization of approximately 500 employees or more.
Demonstrated leadership experience providing robust training and professional development.
Demonstrated successful experience advancing DEIJ work and a professional commitment to inclusive practices.
Experience in higher education and/or non-profit organization preferred.
