Stevenson School is currently seeking a full-time Director of Human Resources.
The Director of Human Resources works closely with the School's President, CFO, and legal counsel to develop all key HR policies; directs and coordinates human resource activities such as employee benefits, employee relations, employment agreements, compliance, compensation, residential housing agreements, etc..
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage, administer and maintain the school’s personnel policies and procedures, employee handbook, personnel forms and recommend changes as needed.
Serve as primary information resource and administrator for employee benefit and retirement plans. Schedule campus visits by benefit plan providers, including coordination of annual Benefits Fair.
Advise and consult with President, CFO, Division Heads, Senior Staff, and legal counsel (as necessary) to resolve and/or diffuse employee relations issues; oversee and directly engage in the resolution of delicate personnel matters and seek at all times to protect the School’s best interest.
Support the CFO, Division Heads and Senior Staff in the recruitment and hiring process including writing and placing ads, reviewing resumes, interviewing candidates, making hiring recommendations, checking references, verifying credentials and preparing offers.
Oversee new employee orientation and benefits enrollment. Monitor new employee background checks and work authorization, and I-9 compliance.
Develop, implement and maintain effective compliance with all applicable employment regulations (FSLA, FMLA, ERISA) as well as Federal and State labor laws and preparation of EEO-1 report.
Manage workers’ compensation procedures and preparation of annual OSHA reports.
Develop, implement and maintain effective compliance procedures for the 403(b) retirement plan. Oversee annual 403(b) audit and preparation of 5500.
Monitor and submit insurance claims related to worker’s compensation, disability, pregnancy disability and family medical leave, and COBRA administration.
Participate in risk management, including renewal of all insurance policies.
Consult with legal counsel on various employment matters to minimize potential liability.
Prepare employment, residential and coaching agreements, coordinate salary changes and oversee correct FLSA classification of jobs. Support the Division Heads and CFO with employee-related contract and budget items including compensation analysis, salary and benefit budget comparisons.
Oversee waivers for all students and related activities, tutoring requirements.
Prepare and maintain accurate job descriptions.
Maintain secure and confidential human resource related files and records.
Organize and coordinate group training and development for staff and administration.
Manage payroll processing for all exempt, non-exempt and part time employees. Handle timely preparation of W2 and 1095 forms.
Regularly attend professional conferences/webinars/workshops to remain current on best HR practices and labor laws.
Other duties as assigned by CFO.
BA degree required with a minimum of five years of increasingly responsible human resource experience. Excellent strategic, analytical and problem solving ability, ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment; demonstrated organization and project management skills. Highly skilled using Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word) and Google (Sheets, Docs). Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast paced environment. Highest standard of professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work independently with a strong customer service approach. Position requires adaptability, analyzing, assessing, calculating, decision making, dependability, good judgment, reading, memorizing, social skills, speaking, multitasking and writing.
