The Human Resource Specialist (HR/CMS) is a mid-entry level position that will primarily assist in the functions of payroll and Human resources information systems (HRIS). Responsibilities include providing advisory services and guidance regarding system inquiries, administering pay, benefits, reporting and leave. The HR Specialist will also play a key role in supporting HR transactional processes related to HRIS and payroll transactions.
Supervision Received: Reports to the Executive Director of Human Resources
Supervision Exercised: None
May assist in maintenance and troubleshooting of HRIS and other human resources computer applications and systems.
Process and maintain periodic reports of employee record data, develop reports.
Prepare, maintain, and update employee data for the HR information system.
Process employee payments and new hire information.
Cooperating with different departments to increase payroll service performance and improve upon the payroll system.
Providing on-the-job and formal training to human resource data system users.
Ability to generate various reports and analysis including audit reports to verify information.
Provide technical guidance and direction to administrative, technical, and clerical staff on the operation and maintenance of the human resources data systems.
Responsible for preparing a report of monthly personnel actions and information for senior management.
Assists with projects such as data and workflow management, performance and compensation administration, learning management design, and training, and act as a liaison between Human Resources, Information Technology, Benefits, and Payroll to support HR projects.

Able to deliver effective results and meet tight deadlines and targets.
Good judgment and decision-making skills.
Bachelor's degree in IT, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
Have three to four (3-4+) years of experience working on implementing and maintaining human resource information management systems.
Knowledge of Commonwealth of Massachusetts systems, preferably HR/CMS, MassHR SSTA, MMARS, MOBIUS, CIW Warehouse required.
Possess a drive to improve current workflow and productivity via technology and a desire to learn and teach new technologies.
Experience in Higher Education and unionized environment, preferred.
This is a full-time Non-Unit Professional (NUP) position, with full benefits.
Compensation: $55,000 - $65,000 annually
